Players Marks and the Statbank

Here we go again!

For the past 12ish years CL has operated a STATBANK with players marks, so for those new to CL here's what it involves.

After each match I will put up a list of those players who have completed at least 20 minutes on the pitch, I ask that you give each player a mark between 0.5 and 10.0,(half marks are allowed) you may also include remarks on the players'  performances.  I will collate the  marks and put up a table of the average marks for each player showing a MoM and as the season progresses other player stats.

Everyone has their own way of marking and everyone is right, please do not comment on others markings as it clogs up the thread and makes my job more difficult!

Here's to a season of 8.0's  rather than 1.5's

Good news LL. Great effort. I'll take a load of 6.5's come the end of the season from our mid table spot!

The concept of ‘the wisdom of crowds’ comes into this, so the accumulated statistics at the end of the season I believe are a pretty accurate measure of the performance of each player.

Can I ask if we can go back to the (very brief) system of counting sub appearances from 20 mins rather than 30 ?  It's not often a sub will play 30 mins & generally only happens if there is an injury or someone is having a stinker & is hauled off early.

I'm expecting to see a few of our more "exciting" or "impact" subs coming on this season & would be a shame for a "game changer" not to get recognised

If it were me I'd count anyone with more than 15 mins on the pitch but it's your rules @lancashire lad.

Thanks LL for all your hard work and unstinting commitment to the cause ! An interesting season in prospect with so many new players and, no doubt, numerous highs and lows.

I have no idea what a browser extension is, but anything that helps would be good but you will also have to teach me how to use it. I am an Apple user.

I dont attend as many matches as I would like, so these stats are vital to help build a picture of players i havnt seen, many thanks for all your effort.

Yes, I think that is a good build on what is already an excellent statbank.

Looking forward to the stats as ever. Great work. I assume your pay is linked to the number of stats you have to calculate, so @golfaddick’s idea should bring you a tidy sum.

Actually Golfie can help you out with that too but it involves him coming around your place and he’s only doing that if you live the opposite peak time and direction to the Blackwall tunnel or if you move in with him….

I add my Kudos to you for doing this again LL 👍🏻

Thanks Lancs. I always try to post when I watch the games and it's interesting to see how differently people see the players' performance. Of course you spot those who always score a player low, because they don't like them, or high, because certain players can't put a foot wrong. And those whose marks just don't seem to make sense ...you know who you are!

    Looking forward to it.
