It did happen & the most memorable bit about it was when somebody ran onto the pitch & attacked one of the dinosaurs which led to a chase across the pitch from a couple of policeman.
I thought it was the last game of the 75-76 season against Bolton. I remember the poor old dinosaur couldn't get up and I was quite upset. I'm still a bit traumatised 49 years later.
I had forgotten all about that. Now vividly recalled. Tilted over on side with legs flayling. Thanks so much usedtobegood. A newly wed living in Griffin Road, Plumstead at the time, I can recall Hales vs Flanagan handbags, and a superb Guy Fawkes firework display at the Valley. The good old days. Happy times when you could buy a decent house for £10,500 and afford the cost of living. Enter Thatcher, stage right.....

A Tyrannosaurus Rex was probably eating the remains of a stegosaurus right by the pitch invasion remains of the sofa.
