What Happened to Ticket Buy Back?

Years ago I remember, as a season ticket holder, to be able to sell back to the Club a seat that I couldn't use for a particular match.
The Watford game is fast selling out apparently. I have a seat in the Upper North Block J; that I, or any of my immediate family cannot use.
I telephoned the ticket office and there is no facility to enable anyone to use my seat for the match.
I am sure that in this day and age, it wouldn't be too difficult for the club to buy back the match ticket, if only for a nominal sum/credit
so that someone may enjoy the day, hopefully. I am not looking for the full amount as I realise there would be extra admin costs.
The club would profit by any extra revenue but as it stands there will be an empty seat on the day.

Any thoughts?

  • Would this only apply if the valley is sold out on a regular basis?
  • If the ground isn’t sold out then this just loses the club money. Someone will buy your ticket that would have bought a new one elsewhere in the ground. If we sold out every game then it would be needed but I think we are still a way off that scenario

No point in the club offering a buyback scheme unless every game is a sell out.
NB there is little chance of the Watford game selling out.
  • We haven’t had that system since the Prem years. Why would it be offered now when we never sell out?
