Obviously won't keep it up, but at this rate Coventry are set for 127 league goals this season!
  • The Sheffield clubs are truly dire. Have the two ever been relegated together before?

That's nothing, Bayern are on course for 150 in 12 less games.

No, only time they've both been relegated in the same season was 2020/21 and that was Wednesday in the Championship and United in the PL.

Thanks! Thought as much. Interesting times.

Coventry are on absolute fire - I know it's only Wednesday but those 4 goals takes them to 26 this season - next top is 14.

Edit - 5 goals today and 27 in total
  • Coventry seem way ahead of most teams in the Championship.
  • Watching with Wednesday commentary. "That is five, let's just go home".

We play Wednesday after the international break. They will expect a reaction against us now

I was watching a bit of it with their commentary earlier. When the protest was happening they barely said a word about it and was pleased for the game to start again. Not sure if as they are hired by Wednesday they are not allowed to say too much on the situation behind the scenes at their club.

They’re awful, I know Coventry are on top form but Wednesday don’t look like they have anything to offer.

I know it’s a sponsor pick strip, but do like Covs away kit

They were 3 games unbeaten going into today's game with a win against Pompey

And pretty convinced Cov are going up automatically this season
  • I'm not sure Wednesday are capable of a reaction. If anything this could extinguish the fight they've so far shown this season

It'll be a brilliant story if Coventry go up.
  • Lampard seems to be doing a good job.

Sheff Utd miss 88th minute penalty. Still losing 1-0.

He's a decent manager.  Sometimes unfairly lumped together with Gerrard and Rooney.

Serious Murphy's Law problems for Sheff United .. they miss a penalty in the final minutes at Hull.. so far it is just NOT their season despite playing decent football at times

Before Coventry he basically had a record.of keeping teams roughly where they were before he arrived - Derby, Chelsea, Everton all finished full seasons with him in almost exactly the same league position as they were in when he arrived.  And then for Chelsea and Everton he started the next season badly and left.

So he wasn't Rooney bad but he wasn't great either - seems to be doing a better.job at Coventry so far than he's done anywhere else though.

4 of the 5 teams they’ve beaten so far in the league are in the bottom half of the table. The 5th was QPR who are currently in 11th.

Other thing with Lampard - he's always been bright and a really hard worker, so I can see why he might improve more than others as his career goes on.

Hull are picking up points steadily.  I thought they might be relegation contenders,  but seem more mid table.

When Lampard was a 20 year old at West Ham, he coached my eldest son Ben, 14/15 at the time, when Ben was in the Hammers junior ranks .. Ben still idolises Frank, says he was patient, never arrogant, took time with each individual, was always even tempered and he could see then that he would make a great manager.
Seems that all those years as coach, player, 'apprentice' manger are paying off. Good signings, expert coaching and tactics and Coventry are flying a t m

Yeah but they aren't just winning, it's 4-0, 7-1 etc.

If that turns into 2-1s and 1-0s against better teams, fine.

And it's not just the 9 games this season, Lampard took them from 17th to 5th last season so they were decent under him then too.

Still think they'll be down there.
