  • Norwich 0-2 Hull

Even the the Hull scorer did his absolute best not to score as well
Six straight home defeats. They won't be happy. Can't see Manning lasting the weekend although a lot of their fans put the blame elsewhere.
Going by the chants throughout the half, the Norwich fans arent sure where to pin the blame either

They've called for Manning to go, for the board to be sacked, and have said that the players arent fit to wear the shirt

Eidur's Son Gudjohnsen scores again for Blackburn. (naming doesn't make any sense, surely he should be called Eidursen?!)
Eidur's Dad was Arnor Gudjohnsen, so I presume Gudjohn was a few generations back?

11 matches in the Championship today. 8 wins & 3 draws.

Of the 8 wins no team won 1-0.  5 of the 8 winning teams scored 3 or more.

Of the 3 draws there was one 0-0, one 1-1 &  one 2-2.

Ego. Score at least twice and you are very likely to win.

Using a strategically selected data sample of one weekend in isolation is a perfect lesson in how not to use stats to make your point.
Apart from it being an unusual set of results, in addition you could’ve included last nights game to illustrate another team scoring 3, but of course, Coventry scored 2 and lost, so it didn’t fit your narrative.

If you had offered me 4 wins and a draw from that run of five games I would have bit your hand off. Still feels like a defeat today though when you concede that late. Was a bit frustrating but it’s been a great run.

Typical of Millwall to drop points to the weakest of the 5 teams in that run. More concerned about the injuries we picked up today though.

Rowett's Oxford will be competitive until the end, even if they lack the quality of the richer clubs. The opposite of a team like Norwich.

Just noticed I had Millwall to win 2-1 in the prediction league. Dickheads.

Yeah. They scored a couple of decent goals to be fair. We dominated most of the game but just wasn’t clinical enough to put the game to bed.

Scum are certs for play offs minimum , league has no stand out teams and scum have gotten their better players back and cruising around getting results for fun .
We are now possibly entering the injury zone and will need a miracle to hold on to top half by Christmas .
21st at the 3nd of the season I’d  bite your hand off for, of course it would be a bit of a comedown after the brilliant start we have but realistically over a whole season for us it’s a big step in the right direction .
    slowly slowly catchy monkey.

Derby now have 4 wins on the spin, and Blackburn 3 on the spin. It's so hard to write anyone off this season.

Stoke are the big surprise for me. Didnt expect them to be anywhere near top 2 and best defence in the league.

In the past four seasons, they've finished lower and lower; 14th, 16th, 17th, 18th. Obviously, they may drop way down table, but at this moment, surprised they've managed to get in to automatic place.

As good a start as we have had I don't think i'm alone in still looking at the bottom end of the table so it will be interesting to see what happens with the four games tonight - I had a look at the league table at this stage last season and third bottom was on 15 points - If the Wendies can get something out of Norwich tonight then third bottom will have 6 points less than that. Also the eventual bottom 3 were all already in the bottom 6 of the league by that stage last year.

For the optimists out there Burnley had the same number of points as us at the same stage... although they had the best defensive record in the league whereas we have the second best currently.

Simple answer. Mark Robins. A great manager at this level.

Remember seeing a rumour Norwich would be looking at him if they sacked Manning. Obviously highly unlikely they get him but would be a right touch if they took him before we play Stoke in a few weeks

I agree. I'm a bit wary of Norwich and Sheff Utd making up two of the bottom three because I don't expect them to be down there at the end, they have enough quality to go on a bit of a run with the right change. Saints could also turn it around so it's worrying seeing Blackburn and Derby start to show up, especially with Hull and Stoke not living up to their expected relegation rivals tag. Pompey and Oxford feel like the ones we'd really like to see drop further and further back just because it will be harder for them to claw it back. QPR seem to changeable to be on for relegation. We need to keep winning games as quickly as possible, that's for sure

And yet sheff. Utd and Norwich keep finding ways to lose. I’d love a pound for every time someone said a team has too much quality to be at the bottom and then up near the bottom.
  • Sheffield United seem a bit of an interesting case at the moment, as they clearly seem to be improving under Wilder, but they've led two games now, last night, and then against Preston, and still came away with nothing.

Fully expect them to strengthen in January though.

Just hope that none of our players start drawing attraction from those around us yet.

With Sheff Utd you get the sense of a traumatised team that needs breaking up. 23/24 they were in the Premier League and set a record for goals conceded. They got more points than Derby but for my money they were the worst Premier League team ever. Then the next season they got 90 points (with 2 points deducted) and didn't even finish 2nd. They were 14 points ahead of 4th and then lost in the last minute of the Playoff final after leading it. I think that's been too much for these players and they would do well to have as much of a clearout of the core as they can in January, bring in some new players to fill those roles and then completely rebuild from there in the summer. All the fight has gone out of these players.

Hasn’t their parachute money ended ? Strengthening costs and they may not have the finances to go down that route.

This is their second season outside of the Premier League (?), so wont they end next summer?

I think Norwich look quite ordinary, certainly way off being promotion contenders.

They've been better away from home, but a tough game away at Sheff Wednesday tonight, which will be way harder than what it would have been like a few weeks ago, when the atmosphere at Hillsborough was toxic.

It's impossible for Norwich to have been worse away given they have lost all seven of their home games. They have spectacularly beaten their previous worse record, at the start of a season, which was losing their first three home matches.

QPR v Southampton the most interesting game for me. Partly because I’m down for the Southampton game after the international break but mainly because it will be interesting to see any changes now the manager has gone

Great analysis of Norwich, and how sporting director Ben Knapper has been a disaster.
