Unable to buy a ticket for today's game

My son has decided he wants to go today, but the website says tickets are unavailable for sale (despite there being lots of seats free) and when I ring the ticket office it's closed, despite the recorded message going on to say it's open from 10.30am on a home matchday. Result = one less seat sold , and one potential fan lost (have been desperately trying to get him back into Charlton for years now.)

Same old Charlton. Pathetic.

Why can't you buy ticket in person at the ground?

Sure they will be selling on the day in person

It's been removed from the match tickets section. How odd.

This happened at 12pm in previous seasons but falls down a rabbit hole whenever queried.

Because he wasn't going to travel on the off chance he could queue up and get one, so he's gone back to bed.

It shouldn't be that difficult to buy a fucking ticket.

It’s not - there will be thousands available at the ground.

Tickets have more or less always gone off sale 3 hours before kickoff, with them then available to purchase at the ground on the day.

    It's not pathetic.

It's not "that fucking difficult" to buy a ticket.

They've been on sale for ages and if your son has only decided to go this morning, but can't be arsed to get down to The Valley to queue up, then he can't be that arsed actually seeing the game can he?

Still, have to find something to moan about I guess.
Mate, with the greatest respect, you don't know what you're talking about and you don't know my situation. So, please, fuck off.

It is bizarre though isn't it? If you want to buy online even ten minutes before kick off why can't you? Not rocket science surely?

Give more context then, or don't moan about it, if it's a situation that isn't that simple.

Should be making it as easy and available as is possible, not harder in any way shape or form.

Absolutely, you should be able to get the ticket online in a matter of minutes.

There will have been potential fans/customers turn up today to be asked for £34 cheapest adult ticket. It is bonkers.

If the website is configured to stop selling tickets at a certain cut-off point pre-match, for whatever reason, then there should be a message there when trying to buy a ticket stating that there are tickets available to be bought on the day from the Valley to avoid ambiguity.

Take all the emotion out of it and there’s something that can be done to avoid this situation in the future.

I never said "Charlton Pathetic". There's a full stop in there, so learn to read.

I was more than happy to pay that. They didn't want the money.

I'm with @Off_it here. We surely want to shift as many tickets as possible so why put obstacles in people's way?

Why should I "give more context", you clown. Who are you?

All week I work with businesses who are devising ways to make "customer experience" easier, so they can more easily sell their product. But at Charlton they always seemed to have done the opposite, but putting obstacles in the way.

In this day and age, why is it not possible to buy a print at home ticket digitally two hours before kick off?

Why was the ticket office advertised as being open from 10.30am but still shut at 10.50? So I couldn't buy one to be picked up.

We surely want to make it as easy as possible for lapsed supporters to come back? Especially when there were thousands of empty seats. Surely that is something we all can agree on?

In this instance we failed. And I've been working bloody hard to try and get him back into the fold.
They struggle to even sell a pint to people who want one at half time there's no chance of them making anything else easy.

I don't like it and I actually see it as a bad policy though I know why they do it but the extra charge on the day of the game is another poor thing we do.

It was a s*** personal comment that was bang out of order by @sam3110 who even wanted to justify his comment by wanting the last word.
