Got some real quality Bristol City, player for player we don't really match them. Both defences tight so far, both teams know where the goals are, I think this has a 0-0 written all over it and I would take that any day of the week. Containing Twine well will be key this weekend. Can see Tanto coming in for Campbell for this away game, while the former should have shot first time vs Stevenage for a goal chance, his overall running and ability to open up space was very impressive.1

Watching the admittedly brief highlights of the last 2 games, we actually look like we have the potential to be a really good side. It’s a long time since I felt that way! Addicks to victory down in Bristol - 1-0 to us.2

I feel like the Sheff Utd showed some particularly bad defending and scoring 4 might have flattered Bristol City a little bit. They took their chances very well.
Key thing will be to keep it tight, play the NJ way and not concede early. It's a pretty big ask away from home, but we are capable. If we concede 1-2 in the first half, I have seen occasions last year and before (which were very few tbf) where we chase a game if we are behind and we lose our shape. I have belief that, if we keep it 0-0 at the half, anything could be possible.
I suspect there will be minimal changes (if any), despite people knocking on the door. I just think taking Kelman out at this stage adds more unneeded pressure to him and causes more problems than it solves - we're more likely to score late on, but I just think having the other strikers hungry and coming on to finish could be useful. Maybe Tanto for TC is the more reasonable one imo - who knows. NJ tends to prefer one out-and-out striker, and whilst we still await the return the the sniffer dog, I think it's either Miles or Kelman.
Either way, defending is the more immediate challenge for this game. Anything better than a tight loss would be really positive, as conservative as that sounds. We're just trying to get points on the board wherever we can, then we start looking up. Feel like this will be one of quite a few away losses this season, but in NJ we trust.4 -
Realistically I think we'll lose. Just hope people don't get too high or too low this season. Staying up is the priority this year, and sooner rather than later the headline "Charlton taught the harsh realities of the championship" will occur. Let's just not be too hard on them all, especially Kelman who got stick for not "putting 110% effort in" at 3-0 on Tuesday.6

I think Bristol City will be a bit like us in that they are better in games where they have less of the ball. So they can get a great result at Bramall Lane against a possession side, but might struggle against us where we are happy to sit back organised behind the ball and try and nick something3

Doubt we will start with a formation of 2 out and out strikers. On Tuesday Olaofe played further back than Leaburn. I expect one up front to start, probably Kelman, and TC/Olaofe just behind. Leaburn will come on late.0

Would like to see Tanto and Kelman up front for this one. Having Campbell and Apter on at the start away from home is risky.2

I think we will see that Bristol city is a big step up from Watford. They played some fantastic football last weekend. No shame in losing to them if it happens either.

Problem is with Leaburn, he still seems a risk. Feel him and TC could be good impact subs together. Tanto and Kelman feel like the better starters, all a matter of opinions though.wmcf123 said:

Agree with this a bit, Bristol City aren't the most ball playing side, they're not like Saints, Brum, Ipswich etc, they're quite an industrious side sprinkled with quality. TC is very good at a couple of things, but a work in progress, as you say Tanto is a bit of a menace. Watford looked like they didn't have an answer for his pace and power, neither did Stevenage.SouthLincsAddick said:

Have a feeling if Kelman, Tanto and Knibbs are on the pitch at the same time, Tantos work rate/press will open up an opportunity for one of those two.
I can see TC & Leaburn having more fun/luck against tired legs, feel Tanto and Kelman make more sense starting right now.10 -
TC is great at pressing with a partner, him and Godden forced a decent amount of GK errors as they worked well together. TC was playing with someone less familiar with our pressing game at the weekend0

As much as I'd like to see Kelman get off the mark and become a key player for us in our bid to remain in the second tier, I can't shake the feeling that he'll continue to struggle and I can see him—for better or worse—get dropped in favour Leaburn whom I think might shine and is definitely worth a punt given our forwards' slow start.
In a more positive twist, I have a funny feeling that Carey might become one of those aforementioned key players and I reckon he'll bag one for us against Bristol City.
Hoping for a 1-1 draw, but fearing a close 2-1 defeat for us, sadly. Excited, nonetheless!

I thought starting with TC and bringing Tanto on against tiring defenders was a good call against Watford. TC wasn't at this best but was still effective on Saturday and posed them problems. I think it is a good thing to play him as he needs to grow into the level as does Kelman. I have no doubts that both can.
We know Bristol City are a good side, but I wouldn't go over he top in relation to their result last week. Sheff Utd were very poor defensively. Hopefully we won't be.4 -
