Curtis Fleming

When NJ became manager I did not expect Curtis, an Appleton appointment, to be kept on. However they appear to have gelled and the club has progressed with their pairing. Curtis has a wealth of experience having played with Gascoigne, Juninho, Ravanelli and others and I think his influence helps NJ. What do you think?

    Don’t think Fleming was an Appleton appointment at all, he was a club appointment to try to give some continuity if the manager changed. It worked.

    I think Nathan and Curtis are Yin and Yan and we just couldn't have a fireball as an assistant to Nathan Jones.
    Highly respected is Curtis and speaks well when called upon to do any media.

    Glad someone mentioned this because I think Fleming has done a really good job since Appleton left, it was clear he cares about the club and I was happy to see Nathan keep him on. I’m sure they have learned a lot from each other and the relationship has been mutually beneficial for all parties including obviously the club.

    How long is his contract in place for?

    I think it’s important that the manager has a steady and experienced number two to bounce ideas off and talk things through with. Has to be someone they get on with I think. As we know Nathan Jones has very specific ideas on the way he manages so I’m guessing Curtis Fleming is someone that buys into it and understands Jones. What little I’ve seen of CF, he seems to be ideal.

    Just seen that Curtis only joined us in January 2024. Feels like he’s been around at the club longer then that

    Unlike many other modern managers Jones doesn't seem to have a team of assistants he brings everywhere with him. 

    In some ways it's healthier, as it avoids the constant upheaval of the whole coaching setup changing every time a manager goes.

    It was Appleton time but I don’t think it was Appleton who wanted him, I think it was Andy Scott

    Or maybe (also?) Good Cop, Bad Cop. Jones is obviously very demanding and passionate and provides a kick up the arse, with Fleming being a more conciliatory,  arm round the shoulder type.

    I really like Curtis Fleming.  I think he's an excellent coach & a good influence on Jones & the squad

    I thought this was going to be a thread of another member of the senior coaching team leaving. Thank gawd it isn't! And yes, Curtis has been a fantastic addition to the club.

    Think Curtis is a taskmaster in mentality so would suit NJs style of coaching/play. 

    He just comes across as a nice guy aswell which always helps.

    His soothing Irish voice and calm personality is a complete juxtaposition to the Welsh passion and erratic nature of Jones, like fire and ice

    There was always the possibility they wouldn't gel but they seem to have. Very well!

    Not true. When Jones was appointed, he brought in Paul Hart as his assistant...

    Paul Hart then chose to step down. So he's probably the man to thank that Curtis Fleming is still around.

    had he not worked with Holden before ? 

    Anyway , I really like him - good guy .
