Rick Davies RIP

Rick Davies the keyboard player and main songwriter of Supertramp has died of cancer aged 81. One of my favourite bands from the 70;s right through and produced some magnificent songs. RIP.

    RIP indeed mate. Crime of the Century one of the first albums I bought as a youth. Still as good today. Love School and Asylum. 

    And although a bit of a semi guilty pleasure let’s face it Breakfast in America hasn’t got a bad note on it. 

    He leaves a great musical legacy.

    They made some great albums, the same goes for Crisis what crisis and one of my favourite tracks is hide in your shell of off the century album.

    That is a sad one but we were blessed to have Rick Davis and his talent. Some great sounds from youth.
    I can't remember off the top of head what album it was but I think it was Live in Paris, an excellent, Take the Long Way Home. Always loved that track.

    Very sad about this. What a musical giant. Crime of the Century is my favourite. I really struggle to think of an album with a stronger opening than School followed by Bloody Well Right. RIP.

    Never listened to any Supertramp albums .. Breakfast in America and Bloody Well Right as singles are quite uniquely English and timeless .. R I P 

    EDIT .. I see that Breakfast in America was written by Roger Hodgson and bloody Well Right co written by Davies and Hodgson .. the two had (i m o) very similar singing voices

    I saw Supertramp in my first proper concert in September 1971 - they were the backing band to Ten Years After at the London Coliseum. 

    We primarily went to see Alvin Lee play his guitar after being captivated by his performance at Woodstock with Going Home.  Loved TYA, but also fell in love with Supertramp.  I've bought most of their albums over the years - more so than TYA albums if truth be told - especially as I mellowed with age.

    Very sad.  RIP Rick, thanks for the music.
