Located between Newark-on-Trent and Lincoln on the ancient thoroughfare, now the A46. A sight to behold and a great welcome to the county.
A lot of local companies have invested their time and expertise to help the project, seemingly a real local effort with Notts and Lincs local councils involved along with local residents.

Wow, they started that when I worked in Lincoln regularly, over five years ago. It looks great though.

That’s only the framework and it’s still to be covered…..actually, don’t take that as gospel but I believe that’s the case.

The original plan was to have it clad. But as you see it now is the completed state. Not clear if budget or technical reasons caused the change but it still looks stunning and I'm glad they got it finished. It has been a mammoth project for the volunteers.

It’s pretty stunning, few mates were there yesterday.
  • Great picture from someone online of the Lancaster flying over the statue today.
  • Fantastic, and well done to all the people that did this.
I am involved with statues and memorials since retiring, and it takes a great deal of planning and raising financial streams to get these projects realised. People think you just have to ask a couple of rich donors and the job is done. If only it were that simple.
