What’s Going On With Tanto?

Not very much at the moment by the looks of it!

Is he carrying a knock or injury, that we don’t know about?

Im quite surprised he’s not had a run out, and could be a game changer, maybe he’s got stuff going on, off the pitch.

Hs been in the squad for all the league games I think a played 90 mins against Cambridge so he is fit. He clearly just isn’t doing enough in training to be ahead of TC, Kelman or Leaburn

He’s due a start . I bet he is chomping at the bit .
  • Judging by comments from Jones on his finishing he doesn’t seem him as a natural goal scorer so won’t go ahead of Leaburn Kelman Godden for the main central striker to partner TC. So it’s realistically either him on TC for that winger/striker role and Jones loves Campbell so don’t think it’s that strange why he’s not featuring. Deserves more opportunities from the bench to show what he can do but Jones has his favourites and I don’t think we’re in a position to question that after all he’s done, it’s not he’s not the only sub who’s had restricted minutes likewise JRC, Knibbs

Still in recovery from that miss v Leyton O i expect. The path to recovery is rarely smooth.

Also, though we have seen some good bits, NJ seems to be prioritising Kelman's role for now.

I think Tanto and Knibbs might get more game time in the coming weeks if we still struggle to score.  I don’t have any complaints about the season so far given the leap in opponents and the fact we’ve fought so hard, but we’re 1 win in 5 and it’s plain to see we’re struggling to score.  If we continue to tread water and can’t get something out the Blackburn game (Saturday is now a bit of anomaly given Wilder’s return), I think NJ will be forced to mix it up.

I think NJ sees Tanto as a good option if we’re protecting a lead, and who knows, we might have seen him had Ramsay not been sent off on Sat.  It’s going to be a long season.  There’s scope for him and Knibbs, and the next few results will be very key to seeing how NJ approaches team selection
  • He's earned a start. TC is getting dispossessed far too easily and far too often, putting the defence back under pressure and I don't think that he has the strikers instinct to get into the position that Oloafe did for the goal.

Guaranteed TC would not have been in that position to score

I think you'll be disappointed if you think scoring will mean Tanto will start.
  • NJ will stick to the plan

What if he scores from the bench two games in a row? As much as NJ loves him, TCs place isn’t guaranteed.

I would swap Tanto forTC not because he scored yesterday I said so beforehand I would like to see Tanto and Knibbs get a run of games but I don’t think NJ will do it he tends to stick with players until forced to change

Can you get booked for standing there and other players running to you?

You’re not allowed to run towards and “join” the fans, which was why he initially stood still.

The other players encouraged him to get in amongst the fans, so he got yellow carded.

I didn't realise that, that is absolutely pathetic and whichever weirdo decided that rule or suggested it needs to be removed from football.

No fans, no football. Players love celebrating with fans and vice versa.

I think I'd absolutely love being a striker 'Game changer' in one of Jones teams.
You don't have to do any of the donkey work for 70 odd minutes bereft of chances.
Just come on for the last bit. Create havoc and take the plaudits.
Poor old Kelmans certainly having to earn his price tag.

On that basis, the Millwall goalscorer should have been booked for running at the Covered End celebrating, referee's
    are so inconsistent on this.

It is the most ridiculous thing in football that you can run at the opposing fans, cupping your ears, laughing and shushing them and it is not a yellow.

But go join your own fans for a celebratory hug and it is.

I think it's because the latter is seen as time wasting but it's a total nonsense.

PGMOL - "How can we suck any more joy out of the game?"

Ref - "Let's book players for celebrating with fans"

So why were Leaburn, Doc, Knibbs etc not booked too? Was it just because Tanto was the goalscorer so he took the booking?

It might be that the ref thinks it’s nonsense too, but he is obligated to show at least one yellow or he gets marked down?

I don't think Leaburn was booked when he jumped into the fans in the East Stand last season
  • how can it waste time, th ref can just add on the wasted time - or is that too much for the ref to do?

Very excited for him.  Young, still learning the game and I think he’s going to be very hungry to make the most of this opportunity and playing at Championship level.  I think as the season goes on, he’s going to be a real asset, regardless of whether or not that’s more from the point of view as an impact sub or starter

also very eloquent interview post match. Seems grounded and intelligent.
