Looking at those stats, again possession means naff all if you don't know how to make the most of it, again we are behind, but make the most of it when we are in control, great stats again Lancs...
  • Good work as always, I enjoy looking at the stats, especially the players marks. The posession stats dont add up, should Sheffield be 63%?

The ball is not in play for 100% of the time?...

yes of course - for some unknown reason (senility) my brain was working on 90% max
  • I and many others always said that Karl Robinson and Ben Garners obsession with tippy tappy keep possession, sideways, sideways, backwards possession football got us nowhere.

I think for it to work you need to have players willing to make positive passes who are looking to open teams up by moving opponents about. However too many players at a lower level just look to make an easy pass that doesn't advance their side and actually doesn't improve their position. Then it is just an extra pass. It can be done well at a lower level, I recall a Doncaster side who were great at it a while ago.

My pet hate, and we saw the women doing it yesterday is centre halves just passing to each other for the sake of it. When the first thought of a defender is a negative one just to give it to somebody else you get nowhere offensively.
  • Rare that a voted poll man of the match (Bree) was so far off the Statbank MOM, but I think the Statbank one looks closer to being right (I would have had him above Edwards though
  • Two missing on discipline list LL, or are you only putting a few names down for now

  • Looks like Bell and Bree who were booked over the weekend, great reading through the stats, must take a lot of compiling.

And Tanto. They’re all listed in your match stats LL.

As long as you keep doing it, I personally would miss this and find it very informative, especially when I have not seen the game
  • Very informative. At this stage last year we had 5 more points (13 vs 8). The average mark was 6.63 as compared to the current 6.89. That really does reflect the weight of individual expectation last year.

Our form then, of course, deteriorated until the second half turnaround but I dare not look at the marks achieved during that fallow period for the half a dozen or so players who have appeared in both sides.

Which all goes to show how far we've come as a team.
