Introduction
After the briefest of stutters towards the end of August, it appears that Charlton are now back, and acclimatising to life in the second tier much better than anyone could have really predicted. A comfortable 3-0 win certainly wouldn't have been the score line that many would have predicted ahead of our clash with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. Yet we saw the sort of display from a Charlton side that we're now growing used to under Nathan Jones. At the moment we just need to enjoy this ride whilst we can

Next up for the Addicks is a double header on the road, with Derby County the hosts tomorrow evening.
There could be an argument that it was at Pride Park, where the Nathan Jones revolution at Charlton truly begun, an Addicks side travelled to Pride Park low on confidence, having not won in three months, a run of sixteen games... There was a feeling of "here we go again" when Derby (who'd be promoted in second place that season) took a one goal lead, but Alfie May, and Karoy Anderson would help record a first victory under Jones' stewardship, and whilst we only won a further three games that season, we've not looked back since.
This of course will be Derby's second year in the Championship since we last visited them in League One, they survived by the skin of their teeth last season, 50-pts kept them up, one more than Luton Town who were consigned to League One Football; Paul Warne, the Manager that we faced in March 2024 has gone, and in his place came John Eustace, previously of Blackburn Rovers, who just about helped the Rams to avoid the drop...
The new campaign has remained a struggle for the hosts, they've won just the once, a visit to West Bromwich Albion, whilst have three draws. However just one solitary point has been recorded for the Home side at Pride Park, and with Derby on six points, and in 21st, this is a chance to record another victory at a venue where we've not had the happiest of record in recent years, we've just that one win in Derbyshire since 1999. In terms of goals... and our hosts have scored nine times, with Carlton Morris (signed by Nathan Jones at Luton) top scorer with four, but they have conceded 13-times, over double the amount conceded by the Addicks, so there could be opportunities to hurt, and inflict more pain on the home ground come 10pm tomorrow evening.

Well this'll be an interesting squad selection tomorrow night, seeing that this'll be the first League fixture in 2025/26 which'll be played in midweek, so naturally we'll have to see what kind of hand Nathan Jones deals come 6:45pm - Both Tyreece Campbell and Charlie Kelman were withdrawn with 30-minutes to spare on Saturday, that could have been with tonight in mind, meaning we'll see the usual duo in attack starting, with Miles Leaburn, and Tanto Olaofe replacing them around a similar time, what with Preston to come next weekend.
Elsewhere and we could once again see James Bree and Reece Burke rested, with their minutes managed, if that's the case you'd expect to see Rob Apter and Kayne Ramsay returning to the starting eleven. However given their performances of late, and minutes they have achieved, its a settled back line we could see once more. Of course its unlikely the defence will remain completely unchanged; Josh Edwards limped off against Blackburn, so will likely be replaced by Macauley Gillesphey, with Amari'i Bell shifting across to Left Wing-Back

Bar our last visit to Pride Park a couple of seasons it was no wins in 10 in all competitions. Not a happy hunting ground but anything from tomorrow night will be most agreeable4

"Nice mix in the lineup needed here of balance + freshness for fitness. Charlton will line up with a 5-3-2, with a compact frustrating approach. They rank 24th in the league for accurate passes p90 and 21st in the league for possesion (we rank 24th for context). As we are home we will be encouraged both by charlton and Eustace to get on the ball more which will mean we should get better technical players on the pitch to help break them down and move them around with the ball at our feet. For me id go with a 4-4-2 approach.Hopefully one or both of Brewster or CBT will be on the bench to come on for 10/15 minutes aswell.In possession if we get Elder and Johnston high with Morris holding up the ball and Agyemang being allowed to free roam and as he naturally likes to move out left it will also allow Diaz to find space in that half space to shoot on his right foot from the left.With Agyemang and Brereton Diaz interchanging in attack. In defence id back us to have enough mobility in that side also to react to charltons counter attack approach.
An advantage for us is one of their biggest outlets in Edwards at Left wing back should be missing for this game which means one of Bell or Gillesphey will play left wing back who want give us at much problems in defence (even though he scored a header on the weekend off a set peice).Im not as panicked as some people but definitely not as content as others, it is a must win for me and no excuses not to win to be honest, if we get 4-6 points out of the next 2 we can really kick start the season after the international break with a slightly easier run aswell as Beck, Langas, Brewster, Tommo and CBT back involved"3 -

Despite being outstanding on Saturday can’t see Burke making it for this one , expect Ramsey to start and Olaofe for Campbell it has to be Olaofe last two games 1 goal 2 assists , Campbell all season no goals no assists … it’s not rocket science NJ …… 1-1

Will take a point against any side away from home this season (except Oxford and Wednesday). Despite their bad start don’t think Jones style will be as effective against a Eustace side than most clubs at this level not to mention they also spent heavy this summer don’t get beat and I’m happy6
