This is a tough game and could very easily be one game  too far for us … the conditions are going to be terrible but I feel we saw the affect of championship football with two games in 4 days we looked tired , the pace and movement in this league is fast and our pressing game has to be quicker .. so tiredness will be an issue until we get use to it .. Ramsey looked poor on Tuesday but think he will stay in , Carey who looked shuttered in Tuesday after only 55 mins might miss out .. and again Campbell still not done anything to warrant another start ..so might be a few changes but i fear for this one 2-0 to Preston

Apart from his involvement in the goal, you mean
Think Kelman was the main man in that build up without that touch the ball would never have got to Campbell

Avoid a defeat here and I will be very happy. Real tough one but we are pretty good now. Just need to get the strikers firing. Maybe a change up front to see what Leaburn and Tanto can do?

    • Preston North End have won each of their last four league games against Charlton Athletic, with this their first meeting with the London side since a 2-1 victory in January 2020.
    • Charlton Athletic have won just one of their last 20 away league games against Preston North End since 1955 (D5 L14), conceding 2.5 goals on average per fixture in that time.
    • Preston North End have kept two clean sheets in their last three Championship matches, as many as they kept in their previous 19 league games.
    • Charlton Athletic have won just two of their last seven league matches (D3 L2), this after winning five of their six league matches prior to this run (L1).
    • James Bree has been involved in 50% of Charlton Athletic’s goals in the Championship this season (4/8), providing two assists and scoring two goals for the Addicks.

If the match goes ahead, will the wind be more advantageous to us or Preston? Can see an ugly draw.

Without Campbell playing the ball into Carey Bree would have never had that volley. How hard is it to give a player any sort of credit when it’s deserved? May not like a player but sometimes you have to hold your hands up when they do contribute

I’d be tempted to start Olaofe in a game that won’t be pretty due to the weather .  Perhaps with TC.  Kelman is playing much better , don’t get me wrong .

I never been scared of Preston and I'm not starting now.

    Preston 1 - 2 Charlton

    Kelman x 2

Think your find I gave Campbell lot of credit when he was our best player for large parts of last season but fact is from Huddersfield at home last season his form dropped considerably and that has continued into this season where he contributed very little and is the problem up front at the moment.. everyone can see it and leaving him in the side at the moment is not doing him any favours or those players around him …he still has a major role to play in the team but not now , he needs a break / rest he looks tired, lost that spark and pace that made him dangerous ..we have a big squad now and players that deserve to be ahead of him in the team.. people can say what they like about the goal but fact is if Kelman had not produced a fantastic first touch and if the ball had bounced away from him the goal would not have happened that’s fact …

let’s hope tomorrow is the day TC finds his spark but we can’t keep saying that every game and hoping COYR

The good thing is, that if the weather is as bad as it looks, I know that our team will never shy away from a battle.

I may sound boring repeating the same things but every away game is the same for me, try and nick something. Sheff Weds will be our tenth game. Point at Preston and three against Weds will leave us on sixteen which over the course of a season would make us very very comfortable

We are due a complete shoeing but Kelman will get off the mark!

    3-1

    I am nothing but consistant.

We've been playing well all season (except QPR), why are we due a shoeing after 8 games? Not like we've been hanging on and being pulled apart every game.

Tough away game and my head can't see a victory. I would be delighted with a point and I think we will get it. Final score 1-1.  Will be interesting to see Small v Bree on our right / their left.

  • 2-1 Preston. Think our lack of possession will be our undoing.

I'd love us to come away with a point tomorrow; a dour, turgid borefest of a 0-0 would do me fine.

Unfortunately I can see a 2-0 defeat and, given Linington is the ref, we'll probably be on the wrong end of a shocking penalty decision, multiple bookings and at least one red card. He's one of the worst refs I've ever seen, down there with Stroud and Kettle.

A very reasonable and articulate post, Ronnie. Although I rate this season's TC higher than you, I too feel he is badly in need of a rest. Being away with Jamaica was no doubt fun for him, but not the best preparation for a Championship season,.
  • Playing a team that's hard to beat in tough conditions. Can see this being similar to the Lincoln away game last season which we drew 0-0. Would take a point with a week off to prepare for Sheffield Wednesday at home

Tough game. Preston are a bit too much like us to give me confidence about tomorrow.

Grim weather conditions as well, we'll need lots of energy and physicality.

I spent a night in Preston in January, having gone up for the original date of the FA Cup game which was postponed!

Think after two hard working performances we need to keep the ball a lot better. Cant keep up the off the ball intensity like we have. Conditions don’t look great for a good game either, so think this may be a game too soon.

    1-0 Preston.
