Google suggesting a few one hit wonders from 1977 but none would I claim to be a classic that everyone knows the lyrics to.

    Ram Jam  - Black Betty
Starlight vocal band  - Afternoon Delight.
Don't Give up on Us  - David Soul.

Maybe the last one if that isn't his real name.

This will probably turn out that the song was originally released in '77 but didn't become a hit till years later and it's actually an instrumental.

Yep, I'm out of suggestions that could be classed as 'One of the greatest one hit wonders in the UK', and released in 1977.
  • Michael Coleman and Kevin Parrott, "Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs" Hit in 78 but released in 77.

David Soul wasn’t a one hit wonder though.

Silver Lady made the charts also.

I still have Don’t Give Up On Us on 7” Single, great song.

Fair enough. In that case I’m going to suggest David Parton. One hit wonder with his version of Isn’t she Lovely.

Was going to say the same about not being a one hit wonder.  His daughter seems to have her own singing career around Whitstable.
