The White Swan Needs You

Hi all,
I know Paul also mentioned this in the 'demise of pubs' thread far more eloquently that I will, but its probably worth flagging separately too.
For those heading to the game on Saturday…
A local group is trying to restore The White Swan in Charlton Village and keep it open long-term as a community run venue. They need to shoot a giant crowd scene outside the pub to kick off an upcoming campaign. Hoping we can get as many Addicks as possible on Saturday afternoon before the big game against Wednesday.
Thanks and see you on Saturday!

We really do. It just looks such a sad and sorry state at the moment.
Good luck Paul and Co.Lovely little looking deli opened a few doors along I noticed this morning while sat in the traffic through the village. There are temp traffic lights by the Bugle so be warned if you are on the bus/driving.3 -

My dear long departed Dad and his mates would be heartbroken to see what has become of this pub.I had my first pint in there aged 15 ,that was 1959,cost about 6p although I didnt pay.4

My Mums cousin was landlord of this pub in the 90s. I loved going there in the 00s and more so when it re-opened, and I took quite a few non Charlton mates etc there and everyone loved it. It seemed packed out week in week out at least in the 19/20 season.Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it for 12, but I really really want this pub to come back so please keep this thread updated on any other future parts to the campaign that might be able to help…1

Went really well! Must admit, at 11.50 we had about 7 people and it was looking like a washout. Then, bang on time a shed load of people turned up and surprised the life out of us. Now I know what half time must be like for food and drink staff at the Valley!lordromford said:How did it go then?

I was told by the Green Goddess proprietor that it's going to be a Thornbridge pub, which is a very promising sign for me0

Thanks to those of you who turned out. Was great to meet @paulsturgess, and I think a few others may have been there? I'll be sure to post updates here as often as I can, but please do sign up to the mailing list too if you haven't already: https://www.whiteswanmusicandarts.org/4

Think a miscommunication there Leuth. Could happen of course, be great I agree, but there is a long road ahead to raise the money to buy the building first, before anyone can tender to run the pub. But no harm in daydreaming! Unless they know about a bid we don't know about of course? We will see!Leuth said:I was told by the Green Goddess proprietor that it's going to be a Thornbridge pub, which is a very promising sign for me1 -
