I'd like to know why he gave it 'the ears' on scoring.
    Ask him.
  • PWR. On nights this week so slept all day and only saw the score.
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but the fact is after that Millwall game; our last 7 games we’ve had 2 at home and 5 away…
record is 4W 2D 1L. That is insane considering how much travelling we’ve had to do. And I’m not surprised Nathan is having a pop at the EFL. Also not surprising if we were leggy but we just don’t know when we’re beaten.

Sounded like the team were on the boozy train back to London 😂

I've just had a look at the highlights, TC's strike early on was class, it was only a stunning save by their keeper that stopped it being 1-0. Poor mistake at the back for their goal but once again, a great strike by Gelhardt; then at the end, Bree doing what he does withe a lovely ball in Leaburn keeping it in with a header for Berry to "chest" it in, his words. The best part of that was Leaburn was too tire to even celebrate.

Does make me wonder though, why Jones would not replace any of the two upfront when they were clearly struggling, was he trying to make a point?

I would have  been delighted with 6 points this week, and content with 4, so to finish with 7 is brilliant. 2 away games within a few days in the Championship is brutal,  so some squad rotation was essential.

I'm not sure the changes worked though. Knibbs was ineffective,  and neutralised our current attacking threat, as Carey was forced into a more engine room role. If neither Rankin-Costello nor Anderson are trusted in that role, then we need someone else as cover in January, as we can't expect Coventry and Doc to start all 46 games.

A disappointing goal to concede, but these things happen.  I thought we went gungho a bit soon, but happily Hull didn't take advantage of how open we were. Great delivery by Bree for the equaliser,  Berry doing what he does best.

Surprisingly we had a better xG today than against Ipswich, as it didn't feel that way!

Jones could see they set their stall out to sit deep and catch us on the break so going gung ho was less risky.

    Doesn't seem too upset.

He made an absolutely vital tackle and driving the ball out our area after we had scored. Couple sloppy touches throughout the game but that was a massive moment.

I must say the celebration has confused me a bit too the more ive watched it. Especially after he hugged bell he comes back on his own and puts his finger to his lips to the Charlton crowd. Has he been given a bit of grief from some of our own?

I hadn’t seen anything before but a few people around me were vocally unhappy when NJ subbed him on

I didn't hear any. The Luke Berry song was being sung a lot even before he scored.

Yeah, a bit weird. Never known him to get anything but a good reception and support.

Frustration for me is that like the first half and against Ipswich, we were overplaying it at the back yesterday and this time it cost us. Gillesphey will get the blame, but Apter underhit the pass to him with 3 players ready to pounce on Gillesphey. Coventry was a big miss there in terms of us being able to play out with simple passes, but I think in general we should go long more often

Leaburn wins most of his headers, if he’s on the pitch I think we need to go long to him more than we do at the moment, and cross the ball into him more. Felt like we played the game as if we had Kelman up top, rather than a 6ft6 giant

I find this new idea of an 'eight day week’ a bit odd, hence a few questions:

If we played Fri-Tues-Sat, would that still be ’3 games in a week’? If not, what if it’s Fri evening-Tues-Sat midday?
What about if we played Fri-Tues-Sun midday, is that still the same week?
Is Sat-Sat, two games in a week?
Is Tues-Sat- Tues the same week? If so, what about Tues-Sat-Wed?

What exactly are these new parameters please?
  • Delighted that we're competitive in the Championship - 19 points towards our survival target. Staying up is a must this season and it looks like we should do this comfortably.

Disappointing goal to concede yesterday but we continue to be very strong at the back.

Championship is very tight this year.

Despite his height, I feel like Leaburn prefers playing ball to feet & running in behind than lumping it on his head, I’d be interested what others think

Back in the day they used to play Friday-Saturday-Monday over Easter, normally with the same 11, on pitches they wouldn't even allow in Non-League today.

At the game & thought we bossed the first 15 minutes without getting a deserved goal. Remainder of the half was even and played like a cup tie with numerous attacks by both teams.
Thought they were the better team second half without creating much until MG lost the ball and their striker finished well.
Full credit to NJ for his changes and both subs assisted & scored our goal.
A new ground ticked off for me and loving the change NJ has made to the club and the fans are all behind him.
Nice to see Dean Holden come over to applaud us before the game - decent bloke.
As for Hull - They had 4 or 5 classy players who were excellent throughout, especially the No 3

Agreed. Despite his build he’s never going to be a target man to hold the ball up. He can’t do it and doesn’t want to do it.

If you look a the Charlton highlights reel you can see Bree (bottom left of the screen) making the same "ears" gesture to the stands. Could be towards the Hull fans.

They were giving it out before the corner due to where Bree was placing the ball.

I think that was a very underated performance given the circumstances. So many away games in such a short space of time, and away games when we really bust a gut. Of course we weren't as good as we were in Ipswich or Sheffield, but I never felt we were out of the game and it was no surprise when we equalised, something which Mrs James Seed predicted when she came home when the match was in the 88th minute.
There's a real unity in this squad, and what a squad it is, compared to anything we've seen in the last ten years.
The icing on the cake for me was the little cameo at the end by Hernandez. I hope we get to see more of him in the coming weeks.

Yea bree done it understandably to the Hull fans for giving him grief about the ball being in the quadrant.

Bet every single one of them had an extra lie in this morning making the most of the extra hour, and a couple of days off, and full deserved it is.
We certainly came out of the blocks in top gear, and looked to have Hull reeling, Just a shame that TC's two early chances didn't prove fruitful, because we did tire as the game progressed and understandable after the hectic away period over the last two matches, and a haul of 7 points from 9 this week which is impressive.
Felt for Macca a bit trying to play out from defence, and getting caught cold, their guy couldn't believe his luck and get his shot away, so 1-0
I never gave up hope that we would get something from the game, and when gamechanger Berry got our equaliser it was the least we deserved.
So rest up everyone, and look forward to a couple of Valley fixtures, starting with Swansea this coming Saturday, 6th place looks really nice and more to come...👌
