MATCH THREAD : Charlton Athletic V Swansea City : Saturday 1st November 2025 : KO 15:00
Good afternoon one and all, and welcome to today's Match Thread…
So, after two very tricky away days against Ipswich and Hull City gave us four points and capped off a seven point well earned week's haul leaving us 6th in the league, we are back on home turf for the next two, starting today with the visit of Swansea City.
The Swans currently sit 13th, seven places and three points below us, having taken 16 points from their opening 12 league games, and were in action in midweek as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Speaking in his pre-game press conference, Jones said: "Matty's a lot closer, he’s now far more mobile and doing the things that we want him to do, he’s had two weeks now of fitness work, so he’s a lot closer which is really good, Josh is the only one then that’s a little way off."
The visitors will be without Brighton loanee Malick Yalcouyé, who is suspended following his red card for violent conduct against QPR.
We've gone toe-to-toe on 44 occasions, winning 16, the Swans 17 and the remaining 11 encounters ending in draws, Swansea ran out 1-0 victors when we last met in January 2020, with Yan Dhanda netting the only goal of the game in south Wales.
Team news…
Reece Burke, James Bree, Conor Coventry and Charlie Kelman return to the Addicks’ starting line-up this afternoon.
It means Kayne Ramsay, Rob Apter, Harvey Knibbs and Miles Leaburn move to the bench.
Burke starts alongside Lloyd Jones and Macaulay GIllesphey in a back three in front of Thomas Kaminski.
Bree and Amari’i Bell are likely to operate as wing-backs with Coventry joining Sonny Carey, Charlton’s Player of the Month for October, and captain Greg Docherty in midfield. Kelman joins Tyreece Campbell up front.
Ramsay, Apter, Knibbs and Leaburn are joined on the bench by Will Mannion, Joe Rankin-Costello, Luke Berry, Onel Hernández and Tanto Olaofe.
Charlton: Kaminski; Burke, Jones, Gillesphey; Bree, Coventry, Carey, Docherty (c), Bell; Kelman, Campbell
Subs: Mannion, Ramsay, Rankin-Costello, Berry, Knibbs, Hernández, Apter, Leaburn, Olaofe

Anderson was visible as well... It was around this time in 2019/20 where we had to be playing the kids because of an injury crisis - Jones got asked about the 2019/20 season in his Press Conference this week... Its a sign people... ITS A SIGN!!1

No surprises with the line up1

Glad that Jones isnt injured...
Does feel very 50/50 at the moment, over whether we see Burke or Ramsay so non surprises with the squad today
Anderson and Fullah (From the arrival video) understandably part of the "backup" team2 -
Does Jones drink or is he sober?0

Yeah I just don't agree with Burke over Ramsay but let's see6
-
I do think Burke is a weakness in this team just not as mobile or anywhere near as good as ramsay2
-
I think it depends on the opponents. Burke can give you some extra threat from set pieces.

Burke did score and make a key contribution for Carey's goal in the last home game.2
-
You just know Galbraith will score0

That Vipotnik that has scored most of their goals doesn’t seem to be playing unless I’m being dim?3

Been a nightmare journey up on Valley Express from Bexhill. Various roadworks, diversion off the A21, A2 a joke and we haven't even hit the issues around The Valley yet. Going to be touch and go getting in for kick off.0

Nope he is absent... Cawley has confirmed as wellPelling1993 said:That Vipotnik that has scored most of their goals doesn’t seem to be playing unless I’m being dim?2 -
#cafc home record in their last 20 matches.

Won 15, drawn four and lost one.
Super impressive.5 -
If today's ref is David Webb aka Jason Bourne would it be too much to hope that our match day DJ plays "Extreme Ways" by Moby at the final whistle?
That would make me chuckle.1 -
Adam Idah not a bad replacement to be fairForeverAddickted said:

All quiet on The Valley front:

Good to see you in position Briston, so I can relay to you when we score5

Based on that you'd have to say that anything other than a win today would be a bit of a disappointment.ForeverAddickted said:#cafc home record in their last 20 matches.

So, I’m waiting for my train at Lewisham station and the place is buzzing. Loads of kids. I’m sitting next to a family. Dad is obviously the Charlton fan. Mum is a bit non-plus. Mum has just had a hissy fit because she’s just realised that she’s ’in this for the whole afternoon’. She’s just given her husband a mouthful because ‘she’s going out tonight and isn’t gonna have time to do her make-up’. Absolute classic17
