But imagine if he came out and said we will be okay, we need to focus on other positions etc etc.

He is just stating the obvious. Bell and Burke have quality so in his mind it was worth the punt.
I don't think Burke has been good enough to warrant the risk especially seeing as his signing came after Bell. Signing one is a risk, signing two is stupid.
I don't have a problem signing them both. It was expecting them both to cover 2 positions without proper depth was the issue. If Bell was LCB with Gilly and we had Edwards and another as options at LWB it would have been fine. At a push Josh can also cover LCB. Same with Burke as the only backup to Ramsay and Jones. We've been lucky Jones hasn't missed a game. Proper depth and you can have a couple injury prone like them. But if you have them you absolutely cannot skimp out on depth.
But that's the issue, we signed them knowing we wouldn't then get the depth required. If we were only able bring in the two bodies then getting two with such patchy injuries records was a stupid decision.
And likely the reason Will Abbott walked away as he wasn’t listened to.
Possibly, maybe more money and a bigger club swayed it a little?
    And that “bigger club” is?

I thought it was spurs, obviously incorrect.it was Tom Pell I was thinking of.
if you knew I was wrong, I have no problem with you telling me so.

I’m still convinced Fullah will be off. Why not bring him on last night for TC.
Because getting absolutely trounced by several hundred million pounds worth of players in a game we'd more or less already lost would not really be of benefit to a teenager breaking through, nor would he make any difference.
Could have put him on for Carey. I do think NJ is holding Fullah back a lot more than he

seems like three are joining this week. Didn’t realise we had so many potential football managers in our fan-base.
Three are joining?? Clarke and who are the other two?

If he's actually fit Clarke would be a good signing, but I really don't think we should be looking at any more defenders with patchy injury records
90% of players have had injuries during their careers .. problem with January these are the only players that become available .. people think your going to get first team players in January think again
    Samenyo.

(You didnt say at what cost though)
went to BETHS - not sure what academy he was at but we missed one there

Apparently Dykes was at the game yesterday. Can anyone confirm this? Not sure if it’s entirely true but can anyone confirm?

    Watching QPR/West Ham.

Their LWB, Ezra Mayers looks like he could be a decent option.
couldn't disagree more - watched him for 2 games now and can't see what he offers

I wonder if anyone had the same experience as me this morning? I got a club phone alert which shows as the Charlton dagger around 10am.  I  pressed on it hoping it was a new signing.

It took me to the club website and I saw the words "we are pleased to " and then nothing, the home page went blank.  I wondered whether an announcement was pulled? It certainly wasn't one of those irrelevant to most of us women's team signings.

It's been discussed already in the thread about Will Abbott, so I didn't feel like retreading the whole thing. (since it is not a main topic of this thread)

Apparently in for Harry Clarke on loan from Ipswich RB-RWB
Coming back from a knee injury so that fits
Cannot but think that recalling Asiimwe would be a better call.
Not good enough … his performances at Wimbledon have dropped off as well
please stop just repeating previous posts, and criticising Campbell. have some thoughts of your own.

If he was, he's not exactly hard to spot so I'd imagine someone saw him

Wait. The emblem’s weapon is a sword not a dagger isn’t it?

Bree wants to stay, he’s also best mates with Lloyd, as well as the Nathan Jones factor. Expect him to sign perm in the summer regardless if his loan is able to be extended or not.

Not had another update on the LWB.

Dykes getting closer.  Rumours he was there last night? Not sure how true they are, but can only be a positive if he was.
    Thanks @stjohnshill

Can play across the whole back line. Is very much a work horse rather then a technical type. Be a good addition at the back.
We have a team full of workhorses rather than technical types but needs must.........

As already stated, I am really not a fan of Dykes, but I know he works hard and fits Jones’s intensity. I will of course support him if he comes and hope he helps us to secure our championship status.

But I really hope he is coming to help Miles and not take his place as I really think after a good run of games and a decent strike partner, Miles is finally getting back to the player we know he can be and I don’t want to stifle that,

I have a feeling that once Miles and Kelman click we'll see plenty more goals. They both work hard but that chemistry isn't there yet.

I think we need another striker, but more so we need a LWB and LCB. We should utilise Campbell when we're chasing a game, switch to 3-4-3 and have him and Oloafe either side of the main striker especially  when looking for a late goal. His pace against tiring players will be a real challenge.

I never have rumours, but my Stockport mate text me and asked if there is anything in Tanto going back there on loan.

Said he heard from someone at Stockport it's a done deal and was wondering if I had heard anything about it.

    I would be surprised.

    Surely they’d rather have Kanu?

No chance he plays yesterday if it’s a done deal surely?

Can't see there being any legs in Tanto going back to Stockport even if the sniffer dog is nearly back. Everything seems to point to us wanting a target man in terms of strikers so Tanto will still have a role to play

No issue with him leaving as long as we upgrade. Tanto has all of the physical traits to play in the Championship but the footballing ability is currently league 1

Bell is an absolutely Rolls Royce of a defender. I can’t add anything to what everyone has said on here about him being risked last night/ being moved to LWB when it’s clear he can’t hack that position. So it’s an absolute necessity to me that we sign a really decent LCB and LWB.

I am hopeful we’ll do so!

If that all came off I'd have to say that would be a pretty good result. They may or may not all work out but in terms of the positions we need addressing that would only leave a potential upgrade to midfield needed.
