shocking/guilty pleasure songs that you actually can't resist

Tight fit - the lion sleeps tonight
Starship - Nothings gonna stop us now
Queen - Fat bottom girls
Whitesnake - Here I go again
Alice Cooper - Poison
Girls Aloud - Love Machine
Sugababes - Without you now, two of my break glass in case of an empty dance floor tracks. Never let me down
Now Carly Rae Jepson fascinates me, absolutely not my taste BUT I think for a period of time she had the formula for the perfect pop song. Call me maybe and I really like you are insultingly catchy and once in your head they are not leaving for a while or at least until you repeatedly hum the bassline for baby come back. And then try not to add the Pato Banton rap1 -
Two of my all time favourites and not as a guilty pleasure either!Carter said:Tight fit - the lion sleeps tonight

Why feel guilty! Loads of great sons here and nobody needs to be feeling guilty about liking this stuff.2

What is wrong with you lot?! These are two more stone cold bangers! Nothing to be ashamed of here. (Except spelling Robyn’s name wrong ofc.)AddicksAddict said:Two others came to mind.

I suppose the guilty element is more of a surprising element. They aren't tracks that fit in with my music taste in general, I think I'd start self-harming if I listened to a whole Carly Rae Jepson album. Queen I like as much as the next man, same with Alice Cooper just I suppose I find both of them more musical theatre more than anything and I'd absolutely feel guilty about listening to showtunesStuart_the_Red said:

I don’t really believe in feeling guilty about the music I like, but as a white middle-aged man that tries to be “woke” and isn’t fond of misogyny I do sometimes worry about how much I enjoy “Ass-n-titties” by DJ Assault. 😟

This wasn't actually sung by the "Alvin Stardust" that had the subsequent hits. A record producer, Peter Shelly, wrote and recorded it, performing it under the name "Alvin Stardust" on television dressed as a clown! It started getting air-play and made the charts but Shelley didn't want to be a performer so looked for someone to front the song. He selected Bernard Jewry, who had had some hits in the early 1960s as Shane Fenton (with the Fentones). When Jewry auditioned for the part, he decided to dye his hair black but hadn't realised that the dye was indelible so it stained his hands! As a desperate move to hide this, he put on a pair of his wife's gloves but they looked rather plain, so he put some costume jewellery over them, giving rise to his "glam rock" look.fadgadget said:Alvin Stardust , My Coo Ca Choo
Jewry sang all the subsequent Alvin Stardust releases.
Incidentally, he wasn't the original Shane Fenton either! That was Johnny Theakston; Jewry joined the band as a roadie, not a performer. However, Theakston died aged 17 from a recurrence of rheumatic fever; the band nearly folded but Theakston's mother wanted it to continue with Jewry as the new "Shane Fenton", in her son's memory.2 -
Surely this thread is about unfashionable artists who created a decent track.
We seem to have a favourite hit list.0 -
Well, I think they’re awful but I like them so that fulfills the criteria of the thread, no?FreshHaddock said:
