    Period of applause

The club were saddened to hear of the passing this week of former players Billy Bonds MBE and Marvin Hinton. A period of applause will take place ahead of Saturday’s game for the duo.

Bonds, who came through Charlton’s youth team, went on to play 95 game for the Addicks between 1964 and 1967 before moving to West Ham United for whom he played more than 600 games.

Hinton also began his career at Charlton, representing the Addicks 145 times between 1957 and 1963.

First centre half I saw play for Charlton. As a small lad the attacking players caught my imagination more but my grandparents and father always spoke respectfully of him so he must have been decent particularly as he made Ramsey's original 40 for the 1966 World Cup.

    RIP Marvin.

Another of that golden generation gone. As said above, so classy, unhurried, & read the game so so well.
      RIP Marv.
