we’ve closed the match thread for now and ask everyone to respect at the moment not speculating on the stoppage or the individual until more emerges.
However, part of a game did occur and this thread is to talk about the selection, tactics and action that occurred.
Please keep it to that. Thanks

Assume Jones' booking doesn't stand?1

Not sure about that, didn't the sending off in the abandoned Blackburn Ipswich game still stand?1
-
Ref was a W⚓️0

Didn't get going, let's be honest, but thought Gillesphey got skinned twice in about 15 seconds, TC was shot shy when given the space and opportunity to shoot, and Jones' weird chest down to their player then immediately pulling them to the floor was both shit football and then shit decision making.
Let's hope the rearranged game has at least 4 or 5 different starters in the XI5 -
Pretty sure Red Cards still stand, Yellow Cards and Goals get wiped off... But could be chatting shit, wouldnt be the first timealiwibble said:Not sure about that, didn't the sending off in the abandoned Blackburn Ipswich game still stand?2 -
We didn’t look great in the early moments, that’s for sure. Pompey had most of whatever half chances there were but we looked to have limited them to just that. They certainly looked beatable. I thought TC looked good and Karoy was involved. Onel must be a hell of a hard worker in training, or no one else wants the role!2

0-0 is how it started and probably would have finished due to the lack of quality out there .
Lloyd Jones I think got booked for kicking the ball away in the third minute , think he’d gotten away with the foul but then nudged ball away and ref then went for the yellow, stupid .
luckily won’t count and wasn’t great for our best defender to get one for that reason that early on
Hernandez actually looked like a fat bloke who’d won a comp to play , very immobile .
Ed Slater was there in the lounge , former rugby player Charlton fan who has MND with his wife and young children .❤️9 -
Wasnt too bothered by the way we started... We start quite slowly most weeks, and can often take till the 15th minute for us to start taking control and bossing matches. Have sometimes felt we take the risk to sit back a bit, gauge the opposition playing style and then assert our own control on the match.
TC not getting the space to shoot, might have been the start of that
But it definitely felt a struggle of a match, and felt like it would have been a tight 1-0 result either way3 -
Saw the pompey bell ringing bell … outside valley cafe as I left prolly an hour after the game had been abandoned.
had my yearly discussion with Bob Bolder about his New Year’s Day 1988 miracle performance at Old Trafford 0-00 -
When have we bossed a match?ForeverAddickted said:Wasnt too bothered by the way we started... Really scrappy. Campbell needs to pull the trigger when he has a sight on goal. Would much rather he did that and blazed over than running in to traffic. Never going to score if he doesn’t shoot.3

TK with a good stop at his near post, but one he'd expect to make.
Felt Macca was caught out a couple of times, and Jones bringing the ball down was nearly disastrous. Ramsay looked ok without really being tested.
Bree and Hernandez were well pinned back by their wingers.
Not a fan of how we completely bypass midfield, Coventry just hoofing it up when shorter passes were on.
Tanto did better with winning his headers, and finding a teammate, than I felt leaburn had done recently.
TC should have gotten a shot away, but think he's low on confidence and tried to find the perfect shot and the chance was gone.
I was impressed with Pompey's high press, I think that could have caused us issues especially with our CBs, outside of Ramsay, being on the slower side.0 -
I didn’t see much difference - it looked like we were still getting beaten too easily when Portsmouth went forward, and we couldn’t retain any possession. Back to trying to dump the ball over their defence and get the wide men to chase it. Be interesting to see what Jones does on Tuesday. Hopefully the new guy gets to play on the left in place of Hernandez. He really doesn’t look comfortable in that position.0

Thought we looked nervous at the back early on. Demonstrated by Jones getting himself booked after not dealing with the ball better. We're mentally fragile and wanted to get the ball away from our own goal quickly.
Who knows how the game would have panned out but the first goal was going to be really critical today.

There was a moment where TC had it in a promising position and you need your LWB to be bombing to overlap and Onel was just waddling disinterestedly twenty yards behind and I hope we never see him again

So Jones misses Tuesday night?
Great0 -
If Jones booking stands then does the booking/games clock for Conor also advance and he moves on to the 10 count? (I think it's something like a 10 count....?)0

For 18mins we were in trouble.
Hernandez looked woefull, Oloafe has no idea want he is doing.
Anderson works hard but first touch is bad. Jones looks slow and his touch is not want it was. I still think he is playing through an injury.1 -
If it does stand, that’s Jones’ 4th yellow of the season - if he gets booked on Tues I assume he gets a 1 match ban, it rolls over to 10 yellows needed for a ban after Tuesday night (correct me if I’m wrong)0
-
To me Hernandez looks absolutely lost.2

No, he's on four bookings (if the Pompey booking stands)ValleyGary said:So Jones misses Tuesday night?

Fish out of water having a winger playing as a left back & completely exposed, doesn’t look remotely comfortable when he’s playing with his back to goal - thought he played well against West Brom but has looked naff since the handballHartleypete said:To me Hernandez looks absolutely lost.2
