Took me 3 attempts to get it right.
The 3rd was a bit better than widget can

I just ordered a Nitrosurge starter pack.
Nitrosurge thingy plus 8 Nitrosurge Guinness cans for £35 on Amazon.
Please let us know what you think of it, both the thingy itself and the Guinness it produces.
    It’s getting a test run later. I’ll report back. I’m sure I’ll fuck up pouring it….but let’s see….
I’ve just ordered one, will report back
    Well?
I think it’s good. A much more ‘pub like’ pint and definitely better than the normal cans.

It’s very important to let the cans settle in the fridge as any fizz upon opening definitely impacts the pour.

I also think that the suggested 2 part pour is a gimmick and I get better results dumping it all in as one pour.

    A recent example…

I've had a  Guinness nitro surge since they were first introduced. Defiantly better than the widget and miles better than a standard can. Not as good as a decent pub poured pint which can be very hit and miss in my opinion.
I too agree with Siv_in_Norfolk, its a fad and will probably go the same way as Betamax, nice idea but not really worth the effort. I've had 4 cans of the stuff in my fridge since last September, I don't really enjoy drinking by myself and its too much of a faff to hunt out of the kitchen draw, clean and charge up.
On a bit of a tangent here, non alcoholic  Guinness is the best non alcoholic beer I've tasted. If I'm driving I go straight on them, quite passable but also pointless, unless you want to keep your licence pointless.
I don't mind the looky likey one they do at the Valley, better than the headache inducing larger we were forced to drink in the cold.

A few pubs in Dublin have it on pumps.

I've had mine for just over a year since we had that Guinness shortage.

I really like the pint it pours.  It feels creamier and thicker (stop sniggering!)...much more like a pub poured pint than just a normal can of Guinness.  My brother-in-law swears by opening a normal can and then just tipping it vertical in a glass to let in as much air as possible on the pour and once it has settled, it also tastes pretty good but for me, its just that little bit thinner if that makes sense

FWIW, my local Waitrose had both the Nitro Guinness and Beavertown Neck Oil in the 10 packs at £17 or 2 for £28 I think it was at Christmas.  I stocked up and got 6 packs of each.  For the Nitro, it was working out at £1.40 a pint which I thought was very good.

Do you do the 2 part pour thing?

Nitrosurge does a job. Equivalent to an average guiness you’d get in a boozer. Think I’ve said before, forget the Devonshire, best guiness in London is in Feeneys in the city. That’s a hill I’m prepared to die on!

Used to drink in there in the 90’s and seem to remember the Guinness drinkers at my work would insist the Guinness tasted better in either the ground floor or basement level (can’t remember which) and would traipse up and down all night to get their drink from their preferred floor

Just heard that Guinness have supply problems again. My son reports that our local has only got cans, no draught. Has this affected the home market at all?

    No, it’s 0.0%

I haven’t drunk in the Arbitrager since the 90s. Amazed to discover it’s still going

I walked past it the other day on my way to Basinghall st. Think it might be craft beer nonsense now.

Devonshire is just great marketing, Feeneys is way better

Two lads walked into the pub last evening after the game, order two pints of Guinness, barmaid pours them to just past the harp and leaves them on the bar by the tap. She charges them £9.40 for both and wonders down the end of the bar, while waiting for the “pints” to settle before finishing them off. When she returned the glasses had gone the two lads had picked them  and walked off to a table. Not sure if they ever had a pint of Guinness before or they thought that was all they were getting for £9.40. They sheepishly walk bar to the bar with everyone in the pub pissing themselves.

I help a friend run a bar, and the word from the Guinness rep 6 months ago was that the reason they don't do Guinness 0% on draft is because they can't guarantee it still has the same ABV upon serving. The thinking is that the tiny ABV can lead to some fermentation in the line depending on how often the lines are cleaned, so you could actually be getting a higher ABV than you think.
So Guinness 1.5... Don't know if theres been a solution found now its being rolled out on draft but if this is something that matters, its something to be aware of.

That’s really interesting and I did wonder why.
