Out of the proverbial blue, an email to my correct personal address, but not addressing me by name…- 'Could you let me know if you're available on email at the moment? signed by Eddie. Normally would delete and block, by the sender's email is 'Eddiecafc' which set me wondering. Am reluctant to respond direct, wonder if anyone on CL knows or knows of Mr. Snell? thanks for any help.

Checks out as a person of same name lives bexleyheath. If the 'reply to' address in the email is your own or an obviously made up one then its likely just a spoofed email made to look real. You could try googling the reply address for verification.

Oddly enough, while the mail is from a yahoo address it is asking for reply to an outlook address, which seems to support the scam/junk response. I think my real identity is well enough known to many that a genuine contact would have addressed me by name. Thanks for the replies.swords_alive said:Checks out as a person of same name lives bexleyheath. Will be a scam. I had a similar email from a client of mine. But the wording in the text didn't sound like her (she"s 80 and I know how she usually emails me). I ignored it & then a 2nd email soon followed asking if I could send a gift card to a friend of hers.
I found out a few weeks later that a friend of hers also got a similar email but that person responded. Confirmed to be a scam a few days later.0 -
