Good evening folks..

So, tonight we are making our way down to the South Coast for a very important evening fixture with Portsmouth at Fratton Park, historically a good hunting ground for us, but we need to tred very carefully tonight, we def can't afford to lose this one, they got a creditable 1-1 V QPR last time out and will prove stiff opposition tonight, they sit third bottom on 22 points, and ONLY 5 points below us, this is how tight things are getting…

Bell and Burke returned to the squad at Carrow Road, but Edwards , Hernández and Godden remain sidelined. For the hosts Shaughnessy could return though Knight, Oglivie, Farrell, Bianchini, Waddingham and Murphy are all expected to miss out.

Portsmouth are our most-played opponents, having locked horns on 114 previous occasions. We've won 40 of those, with Pompey winning 44 and the remaining 30 encounters ending in draws. our last meeting ended in a goalless draw at The Valley back in February 2024.

We'll be wearing our charcoal third kit on the south coast, something I just don't understand, especially after Norwich, WHY NOT THE RED KIT?

Team news…

Joe Rankin-Costello will make his first league start this evening at Fratton Park (KO 7.45pm GMT).

Lloyd Jones, who wears the captain’s armband, will make his 100th appearance for the club since joining in the summer of 2023.

Reece Burke returns to the line-up as Nathan Jones makes five changes to his starting XI. Tyreece Campbell, Luke Berry and Charlie Kelman also start.

Burke and Lloyd Jones are likely be joined in a back three by Amari’i Bell in front of Thomas Kaminski.

James Bree and Campbell are likely to operate as wing-backs with Conor Coventry, Rankin-Costello and Berry making up a midfield three, behind Miles Leaburn and Kelman.

Will Mannion, Macaulay Gillesphey, Keenan Gough, Greg Docherty, Sonny Carey, Harvey Knibbs, Rob Apter, Ibrahim Fullah and Tanto Olaofe make up the substitutes bench.

Charlton: Kaminski; Burke, Jones (c), Bell; Bree, Coventry, Rankin-Costello, Berry, Campbell; Leaburn, Kelman

Subs: Mannion, Gillesphey, Gough, Docherty, Carey, Knibbs, Apter, Fullah, Olaofe

    My first time seeing somebody in a half-half football shirt and it's a very vocal guy in a Southampton/Palace shirt making his way to Fratton Park.

    Something tells me he won't get inside.

    Back three of Burke, Jones, Bell looks great. Hope they can last.

    Not sure about Berry starting. Anderson not in the squad, injured?

    Genuinely sounds like an “hilarious” prank looking for reactions by one of those twats who make their living being an influencer or something.

    Lots of changes, feel like it may be to many changes at once and we will fall apart.

    Kelman and Leaburn up front will be interesting - I suspect we'll see Bell as part of the back three, and Campbell at Wing-Back... Looks like a very experienced side designed to aim for a point and hit them on the break

    Nice to see you covering for me @ForeverAddickted 😉

    I'd have left Gillesphey in, Bell LWB and dropped Bree, that way you can play Apter, especially with the way they've played recently
  • Midfield looks a bit lightweight to me

    Good that JRC gets a chance.

    Luke Berry should not be starting games for us.

  • No Lang or Murphy for them is a massive positive from our side.

    Anderson travelled so clearly a tactical choice

    From the Portsmouth (H) line up earlier this month, six changes. Kaminski, Jones, Bree, Coventry, TC still there.

    Ramsay -> Burke
    Gillesphey -> Bell
    Carey -> Berry
    Anderson -> JRC
    Hernandez -> Kelman
    Olaofe -> Leaburn

    Midfield is a massive problem, zero energy

    Looks very makeshift. Burke, Bell and Bree are half fit. Rankin Costello and Berry, not sure either has started a game all season. TC out of position. Looks like hit and hope.
  • Was really hoping Ramsay was a minor dead leg or something as he just wandered off the pitch. Surely back for Coventry.

    Feels like we’re basically rolling the dice every match at the moment hoping to find a formation/XI that work
  • Interesting that despite Carey being rested/dropped, Knibbs is still on the bench.

    The team I wanted apart from berry (Anderson instead) saying that what’s the odds he scores lol

    NJ looking for the 3 points tonight which I’m glad about and I think with those changes we will get them
