Knibbs has scored three in the league (against Watford, Coventry and Portsmouth).

This needs updating in the goals scored column.
  • Be interesting to know how many people have been player of the match on their first 2 league starts.

I don't normally comment on overall scores. However I am staggered that Bell came in 2nd. Agreed he did some good things but made far too many mistakes for a member of a back 3. Including not attempting to shut down their winger for their goal allowing an easy pin point cross.

Each to their own, I think he’s been excellent since return

Agree, Bell is so important and pivotal to our defence, nothing really between him and Jones...

Isn’t it the wingbacks job to stop the cross and the CB’s job to defend the box, not his fault TC was up the pitch because Berry lost the ball in such a bad position

I mentioned that in my marks that Bell had to engage the forward as a counter attack had broken down and the whole idea of playing 3 CB's is the LWB or RWB have to cover the wing backs when the ball comes down their side of the pitch. TC, was leggings it back but just as Ramsey was covering Apter earlier in the season on the right with great success because you need the Wing back to attack the oppositions defence so they can't always be back.
Ideally the wing backs has time to get back into a 5 when being attacked but that only happens in a slow transition from your opponents.
The defensive midfielder can also cover but I would need to watch again to see where Connor C was ?

Campbell is a right footed attacking player being asked to play LWB ! Get fit soon Josh Edwards because it makes Bell's job easier and gives Charlton balance with a left footed gritty LWB. TC had a much better 2nd half as he was allowed to focus more on the offensive side of his game as we strived for the equaliser.

I rate Bell as a defender but just like Ramsey pre his crazy red card against Millwall, fans could never see some of his mistakes. Both Ramsey and Bell are excellent players for Cafc but they do make the occasional wrong decision.

Sorry but isn't that the wing back's job?

Merely pointing out that the original post was missing the politeness of a "please" at the end of his request...

I know you are a WUM Gisappointed but I tried to explain the role of the wing back as so many football watchers think wing backs should be attacking the opponents box one second and then defending their own penalty area 5 seconds later. No problem with a slow build up from the opposition but when hit with a quick transition, even Usain Bolt wouldn't get back in time !

When Liverpool were at they best with TAA and Robertson spending more time attacking than defending they were covered by Van Dijk + Konate or the defensive midfielder. Plus they didn't give the ball away that often in possession so time to get back.

If anyone watched the Old Firm Derby there was a worse case of a CB not engaging the attacker in Trusty of Celtic who let the forward ran on and score while he ran back in a central position !

I still gave Bell a decent mark as he is missing Edwards and played fine over the duration of the match.

Yes but  TC was in an attacking position and sold by Berry. If you don't want TC to join attacks I'm not sure where we would be. In such a case Bell should make an attempt to come out and cover the cross. He wasn't marking anyone. To be clear I do think Bell is a good player and did a lot of good things but stand by my original comment.
