A few years back this would have been a huge game. Actually you probably need to go back to at least the early 90s. Now most Addicks, not all, would prioritise avoiding relegation back to L1 and Chelsea will field many kids. But a sell out crowd will be great and hopefully a reminder to the owners of the potential of this club. Could be a big game for Kelman to show his worth. No shocks, 2-0 to Chels.

Having seen some videos of Rosenior taking their training sessions, I reckon we might actually have a chance 😂

Head is saying won't lay a glove on them 0-3. Heart as always optimistic. Bit of passion from team and Covered End who knows?  0-0 AET 5-4 on Pens

2-1 to the Addicks. Chelsea own goal sends us through.

I hope we can produce a noteworthy performance to be proud of, regardless of the result.
Sadly can’t see anything other than a Chelsea win but I’ve been wrong before predicting Addicks results!

Interesting 'cheat sheet' of stats for the game, particularly if you like a punt (credit Andy's Bet Club).

Bleak reading on our attacking stats but at least we know how to get a foot in
The stats are nice but would not recommend following “his” tips unless you want to lose a lot of money.

Where are the extra tickets that Chelsea have been allocated, according to Newsnow?
I think I read these were all restricted view seats. Not sure why we’d withhold seats in the centre of the South and release them later though.

Ha interesting, didn't know that about 'him' or Bad Man Betting which I've also seen! Tbf though it's quite up front that they take a cut from referrals etc - hopefully no one is out there thinking they are doing it out of the goodness of their hearts

It’s a shame that our injuries have ruined us giving this a real go .. personally I feel we should not be playing Kaminski Jones Coventry or Kelman tomorrow , you could also add Bell and Burke basically next week game is much more important then this .. we can’t afford silly injuries …. CAFC 0 Chelsea 3 ….. the only plus tomorrow will be Godden coming on for the last 10 mins

Players aren’t going to get injured because they play an FA cup game, if they are going to get injured it will happen whenever. What happens if they don’t play and then get injured 5mins in on Saturday? Because that could just as easily happen. Get the boys out there and try and win.

Our league position imo has stopped us giving this a real go more than a couple of injuries, with a bigger gap more first teamers might have started imo but who knows Nathan is a bit mad so might surprise everyone and play an attacking team.

Official club video just posted of Scott Minto and Paul Elliot talks about the highest attendance at the valley in 50 years… can’t be right?
Think they said FA cup attendance( the club)
The club said it but Paul Elliott, in that interview, didn't.

Did we not sellout the Boro QF in 2006?

Do we stay up without Lloyd Jones ? I don’t think so .

I really dislike arguments like this.

It’s not as simple as “injuries happen whenever they happen”. Players will naturally push themselves harder in a fixture of this size, and that does increase the risk of injury.

Even with proper warm-ups and preparation, impact injuries are always a possibility.
On top of that, Chelsea are likely to field less experienced and less match-sharp players, which only raises the risk further.

I still want us to go out there and try to win, that should always be the aim but I fully expect sensible rotation. That might be in the starting 11, or earlier substitutions than we’re used to.

If we’re 2–0 or 3–0 down at half-time, I’d want and expect key first-team players to be taken off where possible. There’s ambition, and then there’s unnecessary risk a difference that matters given our current relegation battle.

Bad timing with them changing managers as they are now likely to play a stronger team today than they would have.

However, despite being fully aware of our cup abjectiveness, I still have this feeling we’ve a shock on our hands.

Come on you Addicks, let’s make that Valley roar

He will play the team the owners tell him to play and they will have seen the Wrexham game last night or had someone who will have been watching it. It was full on with no lulls or respite periods and totally committed tackling at times and went to extra time. They won’t want their players going through the same and risk losing players for the midweek semi-final against Arsenal or the CL games and Rosenior has already commented about Nathan’s style of football so he knows that will be our gameplan and more so. They might be on the bench but they will use them sparingly if they are desperate enough to need them. We just have to say ‘hello, welcome to the Valley’ straight from the off if any of them do come on the pitch.
  • Think it will be a lot closer than some on here are predicting. Depends on what players are left out on both sides I suppose. But if Chelsea are too complacent then an upset is possible.

Shame it's Rosenior in charge who would know all about us and Nathan's style of play and not some completely random European. Give a few of their £40m reserve players a rude awakening early doors and see what's what.

I've no idea what will happen but I just can't see us causing a shock. Would just love to see us go 1 up for the scenes.

Just can't wait to get into that bowl now.

Judging by the Jason Cindy/ Rory Jennings argument on Talksport yesterday, a few “You’re not Chelsea anymore” chants from the Covered End will go down well. Most of them are not having Rosenior. BlueCo FC.
  • I think a win is unlikely.
What I want to see is that we give a top 6 Premier League team a competitive game.
Unfortunately as this is Roseniors first game in charge I think he will play a stronger team.
    But you never know.
As the saying goes "football's a funny old game".
