Where abouts is Skye Newman from?

Anyone know……done a search and all I keep coming up with is South East London but with no specifics of exactly where?

  • From Google.

Singer-songwriter Skye Newman grew up in South East London, specifically mentioning areas like New Eltham, Bexleyheath, Sidcup, and the SE9 postcode, experiencing diverse cultures and working-class environments that heavily influence her music, as detailed in this Sony Music UK article.
    Key Details about her upbringing:
Location: South East London, with constant moving around different parts of London and Kent.
Postcode Inspiration: Her debut EP, SE9, is named after the London postcode of her childhood home, notes this New Wave Magazine article.

What is about Chislehurst’s Coopers School that sees them feed the country’s entertainment industry with star after star?
Following in the footsteps of comedians Tom Allen and Rob Beckett, plus EastEnders actor James ‘Zack’ Farrar, the Hawkwood Lane secondary school is now providing talent to the music world.
Former pupil Skye Newman, who only turned 22 in November, was this week (Friday, January 9) voted the BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2026, an award that helped trigger the career of Adele in 2008 at the age of just 19.
Eltham-raised Skye, who performed on stage with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi last year, was invited back at Coopers just before the Christmas break as a guest speaker.
Singer-songwriter Skye, whose debut project album “SE9 - Part 1” was released just before her birthday, took the stage in front of 120 pupils and parents at an inaugural awards ceremony.
Assistant principal Jack Hughes said: “The awards evening was one of the proudest days of my leadership journey so far. The head, Claire Bessa, and I took turns to present pupils with their awards and prizes, but the night was even more special by a visit from the amazing Skye Newman.
“Skye spoke about the value of school and teachers, and about overcoming adversity. As a former pupil, it was so important for our students to see someone achieve their dreams and succeed.”

She was year below my youngest at Dulverton School in New Eltham. I know her uncle, great uncle and cousin well - all good lads and all Charlton Season Ticket holders.

Is that a press release or something?

She’s very talented, writes a lot of her own stuff. Videos filmed locally, Family Matters on the top of the Broadway Centre, Bexleyheath.
