Shame we absolutely gave up last 5 mins as 5-1 looks worse than it was

Don't know what to think after that. My emotions are all over the place. Angry, annoyed, pissed off and feeling sorry for the lads - didn't deserve that scoreline at the end.

Will need to cool down before I post sensibly but all I will say is this.....we certainly need a LWB by next Saturday.

Oh......and the club is a shambles. Toilet block in the AC stand had a floor full of piss. Cant use 2 of the cubicles or the far end urinal unless you want to be able deep in the stuff.

Utterly shambolic on & off the pitch.

Might want to look at your fellow fans for that.
Do we not have stewards or stadium staff who can sort it out during the game ? This is 2025. ....not 1975.
Can fellow fans not act like normal human beings and not piss all over the floor?

Charlton pen wasn't a pen. Chelsea pen wasn't a pen. Chelsea get the pen. What a surprise..
I'm not sure I agree. Mannion got the ball then the man. Never a penalty.

Jones went to kick the ball and the defender tackled him from behind without touching the ball and there was contact. You cant stop a player kicking the ball by putting your foot in front of his from behind unless you touch the ball. Pen all day long.
Leave off, Jones kicked the floor and fell over

The real repercussions from this game will be how long Bell and TC are our for. It's exactly why I was worried about this fixture. Thought we were a credit to ourselves for the first 60 minutes, but for me staying in the Championship remains a priority. And losing Bell and TC would be a huge step backwards.

Sorry to be so negative, I'm just deflated. Especially with Bell. He's struggled with the hamstring all year. It just felt so predictable.

Lastly, for as frustrated as I am, it's hard to say who should have played instead as Bell was needed at LCB. I think Jones made a mistake switching him to LWB but I think he was trying to protect TC and Kelman.

Get used to Macca at LCB and hopefully we get a new LWB in in the next week and hopefully TC coming off was just a precaution.

Whilst there's so much that can be said about the performance, hope whoever threw the flare on gets banned for life.

We'd just scored, we've got the opportunity to attack them, and you decide to slow the game. Utterly stupid.
Tbf seems the flare went on the pitch so the fans didn’t get smoked out

Scoreline flattered Chelsea .. totally unfair result the hard work we put in was incredible.. again couple  of key moments go our way who knows . Number 5 already booked makes another yellow card tackle when the score 0-0 .. and we get back to 1-2 then within mins Mannion makes a poor error which makes it 1-3

the big blow is the injury to bell I said in the lead up don’t play these player especially in very cold conditions … but now we have big problems .

    Their pen was really ??

now back to the important games and we need that left wing back on loan to be confirmed and lost likey now a left sided centre back now as well ..

proud of the boys tonight for so long we were in this game

How many new fans have we acquired across the world after a 5 - 1 loss I wonder?

Already see someone (a Charlton fan) on Twitter say that the “lack of bollocks shown was concerning”.

Don’t know if he was watching the same game tbh. That’s the last criticism I’d have of the performance.
Twitter / Social Media is just a cess pit of negativity...
Its an echo chamber of people who just want to complain about whatever they can

    Sounds like this place
Twitter is full of peados and nazis, I wouldn’t listen to it

Their third was the killer. We had a bit of momentum after pulling a goal back. Savage blow if Bell is out for a significant period. Arguably our best player right now, along with Jones.
Pathetic to hear grown men singing sectarian football songs at a football match in 2026. Same old Chelsea.

I enjoyed the night despite the result.

Love the Valley full, even better under lights  the recent upgrades add to the experience. Fans made great noise throughout. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Gave a decent account of us. We're still looking for a goal in the 85th. Maybe fell apart a little at the end but it is what it is.

TC, Miles, Jones, Gough, Carey, Kelman all had excellent games.

Just found my Prozac pill on the floor. Must have fallen out of my pill caddy when I went to take it. Took it now, hoping to feel a bit better*

*this I'd all very tongue in cheek and I'm totally fine and Prozac has a long half life. I just felt like my post was the most negative on here and felt a bit bad about it.

Sorry , I'm in rant mode........

Just remembering why I hate a ful stadium. Traffic awful, lots of plastic fans with 50/50 scarves. Kids kicking the back of my seat. People going put for a coffee after 10 mins & then cant remember what seat they are in so spend 5 mins walking up & down the gangway looking for their chums.

We started the 2nd half realising we were allowed to attack.......and then took another 20 mins for NJ to realise that Bell is a better LWB  than TC.

Bree finally discovered he can take a corner.....perhaps he didnt fancy Mannion taking them 🤭.

Gulf between the Prem & Championship is massive. No idea what would happen if we ever did get promoted. I dont think I want the humiliation tbh.

Leaburn tried but still needs to learn to jump if he wants to head the ball. Unlike his dad he is better on the floor than in the air.

Mannion stopped it being a cricket score.

Havent seen any replays of the pens but sitting in the AC stand I thought Jones kicked the ground.

Honestly reading all your posts over the years I wonder more and more with every passing month why you bother going to football matches at all...

  • We should’ve played the u21 team, two potential injuries to key players is not what we needed. We had no chance against a team worth half a billion pounds,

Whenever Bell plays at LWB he gets injured. He no longer has the legs for it.
What is disappointing is that 4 of our 6 proper Champ level defenders are out, Burke Ramsay, Bell and Edwards. God knows what Sheff U will do to us next week if that does not change before then..
At least Gough looks like a prospect.

The smoke bombs (not flares) were in the covered end and not going out - it looked like it was thrown to get it out of the stand rather than deliberately onto the pitch.

We kept Chelsea at arm’s length for most of the first half, but once that first goal went in it always felt like an uphill battle. In truth, Chelsea never really had to get out of fourth gear, and our only genuine sniff came when Leaburn made it 2–1. Once they got the third, the result was never in doubt, and Mannion made a few good saves to stop it turning into a much harsher scoreline.

At this stage of the season, another tonking at home does nothing for morale, even if it was against a team with a squad worth a bagillion. We really need to get something against Sheffield next weekend to kick on and start to cement our place in the championship.

To be fair to Macca, he looked a bit better when he had Bell next to him at LWB but has looked much more exposed when it’s been TC et al “doing a job” at LWB. Hopefully we get a natural, defensively solid LWB in asap (and even better, get Josh Edwards back soon) and that might give Macca a bit more protection. Not saying it’s ideal, but it might be an improvement on the recent situation at least.

It is unfortunate though that, after a good season last year, injuries wise, we seem to have slipped back into this pattern of having to over play fit players and rush back injured players that just means injuries keep happening. It’s a viscous cycle.

I just hope Jones' comments about Roussillon looking a lot fitter were true, because we're going to need him in the next couple of games I reckon
  • We matched Chelsea for work rate. But Chelsea have far superior footballers - what a gulf. Needed everything to go for us to have a chance. We gave it an honest go, can't ask for more than that. Move on.

Oh......and the club is a shambles. Toilet block in the AC stand had a floor full of piss. Cant use 2 of the cubicles or the far end urinal unless you want to be able deep in the stuff.

They didn't piss on the floor. The urinal got block & overflowed. I could see that when I went in before the game around  9.40pm. Was 10x worse when I went back in again after the game had finished.
