Fucking Hell, can't an entitled and overpaid athlete not act like a complete Tard anymore?

What is this country becoming...  Grr!

(Ok, athlete is a stretch concerning a cricketer...)

Stokes and Atkinson dropped. Root to skipper the 2nd test

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/ce371kq48v7o

Archer and Jordan Cox added to the squad
    Gotta sting for Brook
Think ECB probably realised it was a no-go really after Brook's winter antics in New Zealand.
Unquestionably the right decision but does weaken his position. And is a little odd after letting him captain the T20 WC
T20 WCs are a bit ten a penny, and it was overseas too, so less media attention.

I'd have no problem with Stokes being dropped but Atkinson would be missed, esp if Archer is still sunning himself in Barbados.

As for captain.....Brooks is a no from me. Who else ???  maybe Root as a temporary measure just for the next 2 Tests.
Looks like the ECB are on here too  !

Nah, if Stokes had pulled a hamstring, Brook would have been captain.

They just saw the bad optics of Brook taking over the captaincy due to Stokes being dropped for breaking a curfew in place because of Brook's behaviour

I’m working on a short term contract here I work away Sunday night and come back Wednesday night. The first week was great, finish work, have a beer and a burger, back to the hotel to watch Netflix. Week two, started to become a chore. Now on week 4 and I can’t wait for it to end. I’m sick of motorways, I’m sick of hotels, I’m sick of struggling to find healthy food to eat etc. I want it to end so I can be with my family.

imagine that being your working life!!!  Is there a possibility that stokes stays out drinking because he struggles with the life style? Maybe the thought of going back to a hotel room at 9pm and being on his own was a depressing thought?
Annabel Croft and Naomi Brodie described during a rain break at Queens earlier how difficult it it for tennis players in an (understandably) similar way to cricket and many other sports - even with their own team around them, it is a lonely sport as you don't have team mates - no wonder they enjoy the Davis/BJK Cup. It might seem glamorous to some, but it is relentless and you are away from friends and family for a lot of the time and mostly living in hotels and out of a suitcase
They could always stay home and get a job stacking shelves in Aldi .. crocodile tears from professional sports players who are very well paid for playing a game. As you might glean, no sympathy from me at all

Harsh! They aren't saying it isn't worth it, just gave an incite of the dedication and loneliness that many may not appreciate. I'm sure thay are perfectly aware that they could quit at any time and get a normal job

Odd timing rather than playing the next 2 Tests first, but who knows what's going on in a person's head to not want to wait 3 weeks more being away from home etc.

Unusual to have two replacement captains by the second Test of a series!

He's done Stokes a solid there. At least it gives pundits something else to talk about!

Wow, that's shocking news. Characteristic of the man to go out on such a low key way, but a shame he couldn't have either done the whole series, or announced it before or during the Lord's Test as he deserved the ovation he would have got.

Williamson has been a class act on and off the pitch - humble in terms of his achievements in the game and graceful in defeat. I can think of some captains who would have sought to blame all and sundry for a defeat such as the one the Kiwi's suffered in the 2019 World Cup final.

Perhaps he can join his fellow Kiwis in the England coaching team  :D

Think I heard this when they were playing them but it's a shame Kane Williamson didn't get his hundred against the Irish as that would mean he has scored a century against all test playing nations.

Anyone seen the Sky interview with Rob Key ?  Talk about not answering the questions & using 20 words when 5 would do. He'd do well as a politician.

It was a 5 second incident - it doesn't take a week & a 3 man committee to get to the bottom of it.
