Was looking ropey. Glad that there was a good finish to this game given the, erm, 'wobble' in the potteries (which I have already memory holed).

15 points between us and third place Northamptonshire but more importantly only 40 points behind leaders Durham who no doubt half their team will be banned as they hit the clubs in Northampton..3

Despite our deficiencies, we keep winning in the Championship 2, and now have a decent lead over Northants. Cant fault the team spirit and getting success at kry times.
We have improved a lot in the Championship. Somehow, now we need to improve as a one day team.

I was out all day yesterday but following things from afar. A great win and although it did look at one point that it was getting away from us, there was always a feeling that one wicket might bring two or three.
A word for someone who hasn't had the greatest of seasons but, if we are going to talk about match winning contributions, then Northeast's 175 runs in the game was exactly that. He was, with his 132 in our second innings, the only one of our batters to convert a good start. Hopefully this will be his springboard.
We now have three games left against teams who have very little to play for and who will already, hopefully, be "demob happy". Nothing is a given in that respect but we have two things in our favour that Northants might not. The first is that we will have two or three players who will be "chomping at the bit" to get back in the side which is something we didn't have last season. The other aspect is to think of how our supporters, let alone the players, might be feeling right now had we just been dismissed for 50. Knowing Darren Lehmann as the coach he is, he will do everything he can to convince the players that this was a "blip". That's easier said than done especially when there will be those periods in the next game when things do go against you and the mutterings of fans can be audibly heard.
Overall, let's embrace where we are. At the beginning of the season, when we failed to win any of our first three matches in the CC, the knives were out. The turning off of social media and the big calls in terms of team selection then had a massive affect. Six wins and two draws in the next eight games have completely turned things around. If we fall at the final hurdle then we should still see this as a massive step forward. We don't have the financial resources of others but look at an outfit that does - Lancashire. Two wins this season and 73 points behind us. Now that is failure!11 -
So, first on were the boys. York won the toss and elected to bat but such was the efficiency of the Kent West bowling and fielding, they were restricted to just 86-6 off their 20 overs. As I've said before, Kent West were awarded the National Hub of the Year Award. There are 219 hubs across the country and to have two sides in the four finals (the other two games featured the two younger age groups and took place on the Nursery ground) is simply incredible.
Above all, though, it was a fantastic day for the boys and girls, their coaches and not forgetting the families and friends supporting them. The use of all the facilities to change, dine, train and play on the hallowed turf will always remain with them. The games were live streamed with professional commentators and many players of old including the likes of Mike Gatting and Ed Smith, master of ceremonies, were there. The final results were, almost, incidental.7 -
17 year-old Leo Selvey-Clinton has been playing for England U19 v Pakistan. England (333 & 233) beat Pakistan (305 & 251) by just 10 runs.
In the first innings opener Selvey-Clinton was out for a third ball duck but, in the second, he top scored with 107 (195). In the context of the match, that was a major contribution to the victory albeit that Bertie Michael (131), Manny Lumsden (14.5-2-52-5) and MOM Ralphie Albert (88 & 44 and 24-6-53-3 & 21-3-68-6) had impressive games too.
