Our mid season additions have been very good. I still don't understand why we gave new contracts to Quinn and Cohen though.fenaddick said:Have to say, our recruitment has really stepped up this summe2 -

Mid 80's seems to work. No tinkering required0

The new ball, due in a dozen overs, could be crucial.0

Another to Mahmud

Thanks Fanny. Yes, I think Hasan Mahmud is doing a better job for me than my antibiotics! 🏏👍😁Fanny Fanackapan said:OMG !

We won! Lancashire 283 all out.9

Excellent win. Not often we see so many of the team make such big contributions. Well done lads.4

Last wicket c and b Foreman Anderson1

Excellent win. Harris will be feeling a bit fed up, stranded on 91, as quite a collapse after Livingstone went.1
-
Perfect timing to wrap up the game, just before the first World Cup game starts on TV. A nice night out in Blackpool for the players too.2

Fabtastic !
Have a lovely evening, All & bask in the glory of a substantial victory.
I'm about to celebrate with a big....
...mug of tea !
Love you All xx

Not many of us, following our failure to win and of our first three matches, thought that, at the halfway stage, we would be in with a chance of promotion. Excellent recruitment, the emergence of a couple of youngsters and basic competition for places gives us a meaningful chance.6

Wow. I found that a strange win. We seemed to really throw the bat late on in the second innings, which seemed odd as there were two full days to play. Lancs seemed to be quietly closing in on a huge chase at tea and suddenly we ripped them apart - not a phrase I associate with Kent any more. Huge win and 2nd place feels great after the horrid start to the season.
Happy days.3 -
It seems that Messrs Hollioake and Cook know what to look for when it comes to recruiting seamers. Apart from Dudgeon, who took 8-69 in his one and only match last year but who was also signed by these two decision-makers, they all signed before or during the course of the season :
Mahmud - 9 wickets at 11.22
Taylor - 12 wickets at 13.08
Stuurman - 5 wickets at 21.40
Milnes - 19 wickets at 28.36
Dudgeon - 22 wickets at 32.72
If Mahmud, Milnes and Dudgeon can stay fit for the duration of the season then we will have the basis of a decent attack to challenge for promotion. Then it will be up to the batters to perform but, given we were missing Crawley, Compton, Muyeye and Evison and still won, it's safe to say that competition in that department is still very healthy. So much so that it is going to be problematic to re-introduce Compton and Muyeye into the side for the next game.4 -
It was interesting that Benjamin kept wicket even with Finch back in the side, as Finch's keeping last year was pretty good.1
-
That's probably because Finch was opening the batting and Benjamin, given the pre-season decision that he would have the gloves and has done so well with the bat, will remain in the side and in the middle-order too.killerandflash said:It was interesting that Benjamin kept wicket even with Finch back in the side, as Finch's keeping last year was pretty good.
Keeping and opening isn't the done thing in red ball and becomes a massive issue when fielding first - being a day and a half in the field, concentrating on anything up to a thousand deliveries and then opening the batting really isn't easy. Which is why so few have successfully opened and kept in the CC.1 -
Would love us to get Taylor back from Surrey once they get all their bowlers back. Can’t see him breaking into the team there1

Following the Northants v Gloucs game with interest, as Northants are 11 points behind Kent and looked certainties to win today, but what a fight back by the James Bracey and the Gloucs tail. They now lead Northants by 188 runs with one wicket left.4

Lintott opened the batting for Kent 2s yesterday in a 4-day game against Somerset at Taunton and scored 46 (64). He's also taken 2-31 off 7 with the ball to date. Another of our promising youngsters, Ollie Curtiss, hit 102 (122).5
