2025-26 CL Prediction League Week 21 Results/Cup Results

What a tough week that was. Most of the points were gained from Charlton's (obvious) win over Sheffield United and Palace's defeat at Sunderland. @RaplhMilne, @alan dugdale and @timken showed more wisdom than most, all scoring 5 points. The four, who had avoided the Noughty Step for 20 weeks, all floundered together, but popped a cork or two on the Noughty Step, where they all sat together. Still a fabulous achievement, so well done @BR7_addick, @North Lower Neil, @PaddyP17 and Follower Fred for 20 weeks of 'unnoughtiness'. In the Prediction Cup 2nd Round, @charscot caused an upset against @jakecafc with a 1-0 away win, as did @Joshb2000 with a 3-0 away win at @Tutt-Tutt. As for the Manchester United's win over Manchester City, which let so many of us down this week, I have taken action…

Dear Pep

You may recall that, in my capacity as CEO of the prestigious Charlton Life Prediction League, I wrote to you when you were appointed manager of Manchester City. I'm sure you will remember that I wished you every success in the role, and assured you that Manchester City games would be a popular choice in the Prediction League. I still treasure the reply from your office on headed notepaper, which read 'Pep Guardiola acknowledges receipt of your letter', which was signed by you, even though the signature is illegible.

Of course, you may recall when we met face-to-face at the Etihad Stadium, when I saw your fabulous team go 2-0 up within 10 minutes against Southampton back in 2019, playing neat one-touch football. When the second goal went in, you punched the air and turned towards the crowd. You may remember I was the bloke in the red sweatshirt (sorry about that, Pep) in Row C Seat 105, who shouted, "That's great for the CL Prediction League". You gave the thumbs up to me, even though you were perhaps looking more towards Row Z.

Enough of the introductions (or re-introductions), Pep. I need to ask you a direct question. How could your team let down 55 CL Lifers who take part in the CL Prediction League by losing 2-0 to your neighbours? Everyone knows they are easy enough to roll over, yet 55 Lifers, one of whom is yours truly, had a weekend ruined due to this result. Even the one person who did not predict a win for your overpaid superstars predicted a draw. No one, I repeat no one, thought United could possibly win, and, believe me, competitors in the CL Prediction League know their football.

    I was most upset when Nathan Jones booed my team off, despite a hard fought 1-0 win against the 9 men of dajavouslagan. He needs to remember how far we've progressed since I took over.

    When Southampton and Peterborough let me down I thought for sure you'd beat me @thai malaysia addick

    However it seems my team channeled their inner Charlton and somehow came out on top with a 1-0, that was debatable in how much we actually deserved it.

    When Southampton and Peterborough let me down I thought for sure you'd beat me @thai malaysia addick

    However it seems my team channeled their inner Charlton and somehow came out on top with a 1-0, that was debatable in how much we actually deserved it.
    We found it difficult playing with nine men but fought to the end. Good luck in the next round.
