If anyone involved with media at the club reads this, please ask why Jones picked Anderson to start the last 2 home games (where we expect to pick up the most points) considering he’s not featured much before.
Id love to hear the thinking behind it.6 -
Why is this always the counter argument? Someone a forum may not know so that means we shouldn’t consider Jones’ position?ElfsborgAddick said:YannTheMann said:

I don't think that is saying much. first half was still dreadful, opposition were as you say mediocre. it was more of the same grossly inadequate tripe, and the frustrating thing is it didn't necessarily need to beswords_alive said:Just back. PWR.
So much better than Saturday, just a shame to lose to such mediocrity.1 -
Jones’s system doesn’t work. That is all.11

Well games like this one have convinced me we are back in league 1 next season. I started the season thinking 17 to 21. Do not see how we can get enough points.. Derby were not that good.0

A decent LWB is so fundamental to the way we play it is very surprising that we have not managed to address the issue, yet. And I don't think it's unreasonable to point that out. I'm sure everyone involved is busting their balls to address it but with each game that passes, and with every point we are foregoing we are hurtling towards the relegation zone. I just hope they can pull something out the bag in the next day or so because if we go into Saturday with a Gilly/TC combo we are fucked.

Was at the game. The effort by the lads was fantastic.
We were second best when it mattered and as I keep saying, our midfield is not quick enough or skilful enough to compete with many teams in this league.
We need a couple of attacking midfielders, a left wing back and a left back.
We are in a relegation scrap and if we stay up, wholesale changes are needed.

Why don’t we have the same aggression first half as we do second half. Sick of how passive we are. There’s no ideas2

At a guess I'd say the point you are probably missing is that we have probably been trying to bring in a LWB since the transfer window opened.golfaddick said:A question for those still wondering why I keep going on about bringing in a LWB as soon as the transfer window opened......
Do you think a player and/or his club is more likely agree to join us now than a month ago ?
And if we wait until the transfer deadline the availability pool is only going to get smaller.
But then again I'm the idiot around here.
Could be any number of reasons why it hasn't happened but knowing it is crucial and making it happen isn't the painless formality you sem to asume

He's talking a load of bs, if he thinks we were unlucky maybe it us time to go.fenaddick said:
Utter drivel and looks like he doesn't believe the words coming out of his own mouth.
Don't want him sacked, but we are so poor.

It increasingly feels like our survival depends on whether we get a left back in. We won't pick up many points without one. If it requires paying over the odds for someone, I think we just need to accept that5

No one around me thought it was a good idea to start Dykes and Leaburn. Same for starting Anderson and also TC who should come on in the second half. Why doesn’t Apter get a sniff? We play sideways and back and don’t move the ball quickly enough. There were so many opportunities for 3rd man running which is very basic but we never even attempted it. Within a couple of weeks we could be in real trouble.2

Charlotte makes a good point in this, who had the armband after Jones went off? I genuinely didn't noticefenaddick said:0 -

Sorry, you won't find one. They are all being hastily reconditioned before the Greenland War starts. There are barely enough bunks for Members of Parliament and their girlfriends and boyfriends.Exiled_Addick said:robroy said:I’ll be moving into a disused nuclear bunker tomorrow
But if you are lucky, the world might end before kick-off time on Saturday.0 -
Summed it up for me Large. I get that people think there are more problems than the LWB but it's causing so many problems all through the side. If Campbell is played as a forward then their full backs don't come out for fear of leaving him. When Campbell is in a forward position we have an out ball, without that we either don't play it in or hoof it long. I think Nathan Jones is selecting different players to try to find a system that works and compensates, I think everyone knows that with the players we have, we haven't got enough to overcome that problem.LargeAddick said:A decent LWB is so fundamental to the way we play it is very surprising that we have not managed to address the issue, yet. Remind me of lapslie a little, but even worse on the ball, tries but not up to it.Pelling1993 said:If Karoy Anderson isn’t playing in league 2 in a couple of years I’d be absolutely stunned. He tries bless him but he’s absolutely rubbish4 -

We paid for a totally insipid first half, our current predilection for giving away soft goals and our lack of creativity and quality in midfield and the final third.I thought we started the game ok but our inability to make a meaningful forward pass made for an easy half for the Derby defence and they gave us some problems at the other end. Apart from the goal - where they cut through us far too easily - they had two other decent opportunities, one drawing a good save from Kaminski and the other a shot squirting wide when the forward should have done better.
Derby were content to sit deep in the second half but a good ball forward caught us asleep and we found ourselves 2-0 down. TC scored with an excellent low strike to get us back in the game and we put some real pressure on Derby but were unable to find an equaliser against a fairly well drilled defence.
I thought that we were generally unconvincing at the back and we can only pray that Lloyd Jones’ injury is not serious. I’m not a fan of Burke and Ramsey had a poor game, particularly in the second half when in possession - he always wants an extra touch and seems to have become incapable of releasing the ball quickly for teammates to run on to. The manager and his staff need to have a word.I thought that Harry Clarke did well following his introduction at half-time, with some determined attacking forays. Unlike a lot of our players, he also demands the ball.
We were very poor in midfield, with an unwillingness to pass the ball forward - a combination of a lack of ability and confidence. Carey made a couple of decent runs but that was about it. Things improved in the second half with the introduction of Ibby Fullah, who made the odd mistake but at least tries to play, has genuine ability and combines well with TC.
The combination of Leaburn and Dykes up top didn’t work and, whilst Kelman was only on for the latter stages, I find his lack of physicality a real problem. With the gap to the bottom 3 closing to four points, we have a pressing need for reinforcements in the last week and a half of the window, as well as a rethink tactically as to how we are going to garner the 18 points or so that we need for survival. To get out of trouble, we are going to have to try and play a bit more football.7 -
Shades of Jason Lee and Leaburn!welling1986 said:First half was awful so was the line up. Can’t play Dykes and Leaburn up top together. Second half better but too little too late.1 -
That might be the emerging tension between some of the fanbase and the coaching staff. They seem convinced that as long as we keep clean sheets, the goals will come.Blucher said:With the gap to the bottom 3 closing to four points, we have a pressing need for reinforcements in the last week and a half of the window, as well as a rethink tactically as to how we are going to garner the 18 points or so that we need for survival. yes we were promoted , but how is Jones "in credit" did we start this season with more points than every other team? start of the season is a clean slate, got to be judged on merit not some "loyalty" metric.7

I am an ebbsfleet and Cowdenbeath fan I wouldn't want him for either. If we can all see it why can't Jones. We are playing 10 v 11 when he starts... Sorry but that's a fact.Pelling1993 said:If Karoy Anderson isn’t playing in league 2 in a couple of years I’d be absolutely stunned. He tries bless him but he’s absolutely rubbish3 -
If it wasn't for the Gillesphey og that had draw written all over it. Felt better with the performance, shame about the result. It felt like one of those League One games, you concede two goals, and just when you grab a goal (and momentum is with you) they waste time. Valiant effort (better than Saturday).

Hate midweek defeats. Impossible to switch off8

For all the Anderson criticism (a lot of which is valid) he linked up well for TC and got the assist which he should get some praise for9
