Top player Pratley. It shows his professionalism that he went on to play for 4 seasons at Leyton Orient when he left us. Now U21 coach there.

Godden is our best striker so as far as i am concerned if he's fit he should start. The decision then is who plays with him, probably Kelman or Dykes
He didn't look fit when he came on v QPR.
    He looked slow and stiff.
A bit harsh, especially as he looked very sharp when he played the second half against Leicester.

As a team we declined, as Chambers and Coady tired, and QPR's subs started to dominate midfield. We created very little in the last half hour.
  • Definitely a winnable game. Whether we are able to win it is a different question.

Think there has been enough in the last two games to feel relatively confident that we can put in another strong defensive performance. Despite the scoreline we did also create a fair bit against QPR, not to mention Leicester.

2-0 - Chambers opens his account with another vicious free kick and Godden settles the nerves

We really need to get on the front foot against this lot and get our noses in front, as the statistics this season for both sides suggest a low scoring game.

A big test potentially for Clarke and Chambers against Sorba Thomas and JRS, but they did well against the Leicester pair, so hopefully we can keep them subdued.

Apart from WBA scraping a point against Birmingham, last night’s demoralising home defeats for Leicester and Oxford could not have gone better for us and we now have a real chance to put some further distance between us and the trapdoor.

Bite your hand off for a draw tonight, need to just keep picking up points while those around us are losing.

Big one is next week, have to beat Portsmouth at home.
We do need to win games. A draw is OK but its not like we're playing 'Boro

I’m not confident we will get a result, given the lack of creativity in midfield.

It will be more long ball and hope we nick a goal.

    0-1
    That’s the spirit BD.🥺

Nervous of tonight. Law of averages tells me we are due a sending off soon
  • Massive match for us. Win this and the trap door is further away than ever. As always it will be tough. We never even tested them up at Stoke when all our team had a go at left wingback. No point is easy and every point is good, 1-1.

So you expect Collins to come on with a few minutes left?

Get him on to send JRS into the first row of the West stand.

The wide areas will be all important tonight.

JRS and Sorba Thomas are two very dangerous players on their day so Chambers and Ramsay need to be on song.  Thomas especially always seems to do well against us so maybe Clarke has to drop a little deeper to double up on him.

We have Clarke and TC.  I would hope Clarke could have some joy against Aaron Cresswell who is smart but no spring chicken.
On the other side I watched the last 20 minutes of Stoke the other day and Lawal at right back looks a very decent player indeed so I am not sure TC is the right person to play there tonight.  Given he is low on confidence already and isn't likely to get much joy out of his man tonight PLUS if he's such good mates with JRS he'll know TC can be got at psycholgically.  I'm not convenced he's the right man to start however JRS's doesn't like to track back so TC may get a little bit of space.  who knows.

Could be more of a tactical battle than anything else and be settled by a moment of class rather than a footballing extravaganza

I'm thinking a draw to be honest.  0-0 or 1-1

Pompey next week is the more critical one to win.  I'd probably take 4 points from the two games but obviously prefer 6.  Absolute worst case is 3 points from them both but even thats enough to keep us on track for survival at 1.2 ppg

Let get behind the boys tonight.  The next week could go a VERY long way to securing Championship football

And if we win tonight, we are as close to the play-offs as we are to the relegation zone!

    This league never disappoints  :D

Burke has been missing from the squad for the last 2 games.

Anyone know if he's injured (again) or on the naughty step after his appalling performance at Millwall?
Everyone was appalling at Millwall .  I’d still rather Burke than Gillesphey at centre back
    ...that's not saying alot!

  • Some museum archive items are difficult to date or to put into context, not so this plate gifted to
@CAFCofficial by @stokecity in February 1998 to mark City's first season at their new stadium.

It was also Sasa Ilic's debut and the start of the run to Wembley 98. The rest is history.

I've got a complete dinner service set made by Dudson (they were a supplier to me when I worked for Sainsbury's years ago). You don't want that do you? 😅

Horrible night in South London torrential rain falling over the valley at the moment could the game be in doubt if this continues for say another hour and half ??
  • Worth remembering that the game this Wednesday night will not be on Sky Sports Plus, as its a re-arranged Saturday game, so if you're not in attendance, you'll need to rely on Nord VPN for a CharltonTV match pass. Should also point out that the Portsmouth game next Wednesday will be available to watch on Sky Sports Plus, as despite being a re-arranged Saturday fixture, that game was originally selected for TV Coverage.
Apologies if I've got this wrong, this is taken from "Live Football on TV" site.

That wasn't the problem. The issue was that the midfield tired and needed fresh legs. But Jones doesn't trust our midfield subs. We got overrun in midfield and lost the battle there which pinned the wing backs in our own half and forced Dykes to drop deeper and deeper. Left Godden isolated up top and removed all threat we had. Early midfield subs are key tonight. Coventry in the 8 role if it has to be. Really need Anderson as an option off the bench.

You are right. We should have started with him.
