On the train back to London Bridge (22:22 from Charlton), when there was a scream from the cab and the train did a sudden stop.
Tragically a young woman has jumped in front the train, RIP.
All power off and stuck between Westcombe Park and Maze Hill. I assume the whole line via Greenwich is down at the moment.

Happening way too much! Scary how bad things can get to bring people to come to that conclusion!
RIP!0 -
I can’t even imagine the level of unwiring in someone’s brain in wanting to exit in such a way and see no other solution. So sad.
I hope the driver is ok13 -

The driver was a bit shaken, but took it better than I would have.7

So very sad, thoughts with the driver, you don't go to work and expect that to happen.2

RIP to the lady involved,so sad that she thought this was her only way out. Thoughts with the driver. This happens alot more than you'd imagine,in my 30+ year career in the LFB, I attended dozens of these incidents at train stations and underground stations. Never a nice job.10

So desperately sad. The poor girl and awful for her family, who will have received, or are about to receive, the very worst news of their lives. Horrendous for the driver. You also have to feel for the other staff involved in the aftermath. They walked us back to Westcombe Park Station.
Tragically, there was a similar incident on my local Strawberry Hill/Wimbledon line late this morning, so services were cancelled and I came in on another line.

My missus was going to Waterloo to meet a friend and someone was under a train at Clapham Junction today too. Incredibly sad! Thoughts with the families and the train drivers2

Same thing just happened on my train heading in to Waterloo.
Seems a big glut of similar incidents in 24 hours.
My therapist today told me the weather this winter has had a massive impact on mental health. 2 months of solid rain and grey is emphasising a mental health crisis in this country5 -
My son in law is a train driver and he absolutely dreads the thought of it happening. He works with several drivers who have had it happen to them and it’s horrendous. I always used to think that a train hitting a person at speed would hardly be noticed in the cab but apparently it’s such an impact and noise that you’d think a bombs gone off. He’s hit several deer and the impact is massive. RIP to the person to think that suicide was their only option. I hope the driver is ok0 -
I was an investigating Vehicle Examiner when a person was struck by a bus. The poor soul unfortunately died, but the damage to the bus traveling at about 20 mph was quite incredible. The driver was beyond shocked.
My thoughts are always with the close family at times like this.
Not only trying to come to terms with the loss of a loved one, but the added agony of someone being so desperate that they take their own life.

Sign of the times that we're not really allowed to talk about on here.cafc_se7 said:Happening way too much! Scary how bad things can get to bring people to come to that conclusion!

R I P .. I can't really imagine the torment and despair that induces someone to jump in front of a train. People in despair are all too often very adept at hiding their mental agonies. There is a thread on here regarding talking over one' s mental issues. For many, this is easier said than done.
Many years back, an acquaintance of mine committed 'suicide by train', it was a total shock to all those who knew him and to his family
As has been said, it is also a terrible experience for the unfortunate train driver0
