All jokes aside with the coach travel, but from The Valley to the ground is 260 miles, they seem to be cutting things fine when you'll factor in a 45 minutes motorway stop.

Turn left under railway bridge, take the first right and follow your nose, about 20 minutes.

What a place that was. Got a round of 8 drinks and it was about 10 quid.

Sadly it was knocked down a couple of years ago when they expanded the station.

This is why it's ill-advised to travel with Valley Express. I seem to recall the coach turning up in the 80th minute to a game in Liverpool and people only being partially refunded as they still caught the last few minutes of the match.

They only showed up for the Millwall game this season about 15 minutes before kick-off. If you're going to be that delayed nipping down the road, just imagine the potential delays going to Middlesbrough...

A budding comedian amongst the Charlton youth decided to have a laugh when the barmaid finished pouring his round for similar numbers. “Oh no, I’ve left my wallet at home” he said laughing.  “No worries love”, came her response…”I’ll take it out of your face”!!  She was deadly serious. He stopped laughing 😉

We haven't played in Liverpool for nearly 20 years, so it's hardly relevant even if it was true. I don't recall it, either, and unless it was 1998-2005 I'd have been involved. If it was before 2005, the club wasn't running it.

Tranmere on a Friday night was pretty notorious but that was even longer ago.

A 12.30 departure to Boro gives you more than seven hours to get there. That should be ample, even allowing for a stop, hold-ups and the speed of coaches, given the predicted journey time is about 4.5 hours.

Nobody can sensibly predict road journeys in this country (see the M2 J7-J6 before the Portsmouth game) but I doubt people want to turn up at 5.30 either.

Arriving around 75 minutes before kick-off for games should be the consideration, allowing for people to stretch their legs, get something to eat and drink.

To be fair the delays for Millwall were mostly the idiocy/overzealousness of the police when we had to turn into Stockholm Road and through their home car park (quelle surprise) but having done the VE on a few occasions I do agree it’s a complete lottery.
  • Could be an overnight in York for some,  lovely City if you have the time and money for a little midweek overnighter

Trains go back to York after the game.

Nothing surprises me with our away numbers these days which are always impressive but 500 plus for this would be incredible.
