I think Leaburn showed when he came on what a player he can be. He is at a crossroads and it feels like it is time to push on. Obviously I don't know the lad but it feels to me that a little more confidence might be all that is needed.13

I think he's caught up with his growth spurt and is realising that his height and strength are major assets.MuttleyCAFC said:I think Leaburn showed when he came on what a player he can be. Having Dykes around to learn from can only help him too.10 -
I hope she licked them afterwards!?oohaahmortimer said:Would have lost another house backing Soton to win but the transformation in performance was as contrastingly good as the Pompey home game was bad from the previous match.
Fairplay to our boys for turning it around .
Really enjoyed today’s trip (not enough to want to go to WBA, the mrs has won the short straw for that to take petrol head ) good away day , plenty of old faces there, no not you Fanny you’re a youngster !!
Also bumped in to @Mosscat who I hadn’t seen since that crazy trip to protest in Belgium , what year was that we couldn’t work it out?
Great atmosphere from the away fans and the support was there even when losing .
Shit traffic getting away from there but the buzz of a point made the journey a lot easier but the highlight was Fanny’s chocolate fingers , thank you and how on earth could you remember petrol heads real name when I even , amazing memory !2 -
They are amazing assets with his ability on the ball. If I was Jones I'd get him on an extended contract and get him in the gym in the summer.CaptainRobbo said:

No, it’s not a wind up. I don’t do wind ups. I just find I dislike NJ more and more dislikeable as time goes on, regardless of our results. It’s been said on here that he didn’t get abuse from the Southampton fans today, and what exactly was this abuse before anyway? In the match at The Valley the Southampton fans were singing ’Nathan Jones, you're football’s shite’ which it is, and it’s not ’abuse’ anyway. And if he doesn’t like being called a ’w****r’ then maybe he should stop acting like one all the time.LargeAddick said:
Is this post a wind up? Fair play to NJ for giving it back. He got dogs abuse in the reverse game at The Valley and no doubt got some today. You go for it Nathan, it’s perfectly fine by me.jimmymelrose said:
I see. I still think he's a knob though. I can't stand people who like to wind people up. There are some like that on CL sometimes. They just make themselves unlikeable. What's the point?Callumcafc said:
He’s referencing his time as manager at Southampton where he beat Man City and got them to the Carabao semi as a dig at them.jimmymelrose said:
That makes no sense.WSS said:You and they are Southampton
Besides, what relevance has beating Man City or getting to a semi-final got to today’s match? NJ is so full of shit.
It is a weird one but it’s wound up all the right people and he knows it.
Besides, imo, the biggest abuse in evidence, is his abuse of the beautiful game.
Everyone on here might defend him now because we’ve just got a decent result but I reckon over half of lifers hate watching us play most of the time.
He was shit at both Stoke and Southampton and yet he makes out like it was everyone else’s fault.
Maybe if he stopped acting like a stubborn, petulant child with a grudge all the time, he wouldn't get the ’abuse’ in the first place.21 -
Massive point!
If we can avoid defeat against WBA we start to look good.
A win and we are looking very good.
So pleased to wake up to that result, such a topsy Turvey season.

He is an emotional man and doesn't mind giving it back. In terms of the abuse he gets, it is clearly over the top and he refers to the treatment of his family. I say good on him. We are no saints Iexcuse the pun), I'm sure we would be just as bad if Appleton came to the Valley. It is one thing I dislike about some football fans. Their total lack of standards.6

But I know how you feel. I can’t stand people who feel the need to wind people up either. Like going on social media to call our manager who is doing a fantastic job a knob for instance.10 -
He’s been playing well the last few months, I still wouldn’t rule out him ending the season as first choice target man ahead of Dykes.MuttleyCAFC said:I think Leaburn showed when he came on what a player he can be. Dykes has played well too and is an improvement on Olaofe, but neither is he the second coming of Kermorgant.1 -

The Southampton goal was a lovely header. I suppose people might say Jones failed in that moment, personally I don’t agree, however imagine what might have been the score if Lloyd hadn’t brilliantly saved us from going behind in the third minute or so.
Jones is head and shoulders player of the season for me…sorry Collins.6 -
Wow. The Charlton TV stream ( or at least the cameraman at St Mary’s) didnt give a clear view at all. Here it’s very clear and we also see that the ref had a very clear view too. I think if it had been just the first “head-butt” the ref would have been right to conclude handbags and just dish out a yellow to both, but the second one? When you hear both the vloggers and the fans around them all expecting a red, you know the ref has bottled that; which is a pity because as others have said, he was was generally decent. Its good to keep cards to a minimum but when that happens right in front of you….Raith_C_Chattonell said:The 8th minute of this video covers the Charlton celebration and the head butt incident.

How is that not a red?!0

From that footage (and the view of the referee) defo a red card.1

Pretty sure Downes kicked Leaburn during the scuffle after too. He should have gone2
-
Watching that sourpuss and grumpy face Southampton vlog, total shite, and more focused on watching their ugly mugs, tel ya what, @Braziliance could teach 'em a thing or two...😂😂
...oh and yes, def a red there, very lucky1 -

Chippy I wasn't taking the piss, well not out of your post anyway, but we had posters on here declaring everyone in the team was shit, Nathan Jones was shit, the club is shit, if you look at my players marks, I've reflected that utter nonsense. But guess what, when Carey scored, they didn't write another word, strange that, so their sole purpose, it seems to me, is to slag the team and everything associated with it, one poster was demanding the substitution of Sichenje after 15 mins as guess what, 'he's shit' . Back to your post though, I really feel for you mate, you love supporting your team and the experience of an away game is being spoilt, is this a reflection of ,Charlton Athletic ? no it's what what happens in general at football grounds across the country, is their an answer, sadly no, Football segregation means that you are are in placed in the same area with people that you would avoid at all costs, who's to blame ? well no one really, why would any football club or local authority give access in other areas of the ground to those people, so pen them in and treat them all the same, it's been the same since the early seventies and I don't see it changing.Chippycafc said:
You on something..........is watching on stream limiting other decent non drugged up fans from watching it then.Bailey said:
A good proportion of Charlton fans watching away games ON THE STREAM are so pissed and drugged up they don't know what ROOM their in let alone the town. They spend the whole game slagging the players, the opposition fans and even their own. When there not staggering to find their seats they just stand at the DRINKS CABINET getting more pissed.Chippycafc said:

Just thought I’d mention as in a discussion the other day I got a bit of sarcasm because I’d said I hadn’t experienced at the valley, I still haven’t, but feel it remiss of me to not mention it when I do.
No idea why they go, but when the allocation is restricted they are denying a genuine fan who wants to see the game and support their team.
No idea why they WATCH but when THEIR STUPID COMMENTS APPEAR they are denying a genuine fan who wants to see the game and support their team.
I know how you feel mate.1 -
100% agree with this. Terrace humour / banter is one of the great things about being a football fan but when it crosses the line into nasty abuse directed at a player or manager I think it’s absolutely fine for that person to give it some back. The fans that give it out and then whine and whinge when someone responds are either too thick to understand why or so thin skinned that they run home to mummy. Either way good on NJ for fighting his own corner.LargeAddick said:

Been on the naughty step since the Millwall debacle. I think with arrival of Sichenje, 23 years of age and hamstrings that work, Burke's first team opportunities may be limited, it is early days yet with Collins though and lets hope it works out.MarcusH26 said:

If anyone stated Carey should be dropped they are clueless.
TBF I didn't think it was more than a couple of posters after a wasteful day with a myriad of shots because even his critics realized he's more of a 10 than an 8 as CAFC need him attacking the area and attempting shots rather than being a box to box midfielder.

This might be the saltiest take on a game I have ever seen 😂8 -
It was 2 yellows in my opinion. Coady drops like a stone when he gets a forehead touching his, it wasn't a headbutt, just very aggressive. He then went on to wrestle Leaburn(?) away. Although TBH, it wouldn't have surprised me to have seen a straight red for the head contact, and of course, I was shouting for one.PragueAddick said:

Leaburn also rolled around the floor clutching his knee earlier, but not injured. Our players learnt a valuable lesson from the way Portsmouth cheated the crap ref.
Why didn't the TV highlights show this, and why has nobody shown the Dykes disallowed goal?3 -
