  • Alli, Kamara and two centre mids and I’ll be very happy.

That would be some serious pace power and trickery

And what we need. Might speed our counter attacks up slightly. Painful to watch last season.

Desperately need at least one centre mid though.

Is that where the rumour started from
though as someone mentioned it last night ?
  • Miles Leaburn might be regarded as a target man to battle for long balls out of defence (Godden was as good, thought shorter, when Miles was injured) but I would like to see people crossing the ball for him.
Which is what I thought Apter was supposed to be here for, but he doesn't seem to want to do that when he plays.
Miles' dad Carl had his best spell for us when we played at the much missed Upton Park and he got crosses from Robert Lee.

I don’t understand why certain lifers are down on Dykes 😳 I think he’s a half decent player.
I understand both sides of the argument with Dykes. There is no doubting his work rate , which i love to see , but it's quality not quantity that this team desperately needs. Personally i wouldn't go for him but if he does come back i will fully support him. At least he's not injury prone like all our other strikers seem to be.
I’d say that you don’t get almost 200 Championship games and 53 international caps without having some quality that’s at least as good as anyone else in our squad. Prolific he’s not but to bring in someone who is or even might be is going to cost £10 million. We need to be realistic and cut our cloth accordingly.
  • The thing with Dykes is that if we only play one striker, we need him to be able to score more than a handful of goals. Dykes has good qualities but he's never been prolific. As a bench option, absolutely fine but I also hope he doesn't block Leaburn's development/opportunities.

This is a really good point. Dykes will never be profilic so you'd need to get the goals from the 3 behind him if you're starting him in a 4231. Don't mind 20 off the bench to cause some chaos but I think he's best suited in a front 2.

I'm not opposed to Dykes as a player, getting someone who has the experience, ability and physique etc to be that big lump up front for free makes sense, and if we do successfully get some players who can get forward and cross more then he will be a useful option to have.
On the other side of things hes 30 years old, and ideally I'd prefer someone younger and who has a bit more nuance to their game or at least the potential to develop such.

  • Even if it’s a made up rumour the fact that he will be from Luton makes it 100x more likely

Do you think the Kamara rumour is off the mark? Mistaken training ground identities?

I'm pretty sure this is where it came from
  • It's weird because rarely for one of these Twitter fake accounts it actually makes sense positionally and player wise 😅

I did not get this from anyone connected with Charlton so believe it to be accurate as in we have had discussions and a move is close.

I would like to comment on Kamara but the only one I know is Kris.
    Unbelievable

Yeah ok .. wish I did both work for the club and live in Spain

It's on your x profile and you put everything you make on the forums on there as well. Don't think many people would pretend to be you because your not very inspiring.
I don’t usually back Ronnie up but to be fair:

He has claimed for many years that he’s had job at the club including:
    Being a Scout.
    Being a Goalkeeping Coach.
    Coaching The Upbeats.
    Assisting the club with takeovers.
Leading the club to national titles.

Would also make sense him living in Spain, as would provide a reason for him watching a different game to the rest of us every week.
  • Coady will be one of the midfielders.
  • Alli not in the Luton Squad over in Spain this morning

🚨 Charlton Athletic are understood to be one of several Championship clubs keeping tabs on Estoril midfielder Jordan Holsgrove.

The 26-year-old Scotsman has spent the past three seasons in Portugal with the Liga Portugal outfit and is now attracting interest from England. 👀
