It’s looking very likely Lloyds contract situation will be sorted before the season starts one way or another
    If he goes we’re down
    Bit of a dramatic statement.
    True though

Tiny Roy Hodgson has cheered me up at least.

    Wtf happened there 😅

edit: alright not so tiny on the desktop
  • Been out this evening, but heard from my Source RE: Lloyd Jones, that Nathan has heard about all the "ruthless" comments on here and has decided to retaliate by showing just how ruthless he can be... Shrug... Don't shoot the messenger

What would be the harm in giving Kanu a chance in our team?
We have Kelman*, Godden, Leaburn, and probably Mbick* and Tanto ahead of him as a lone #9. Kanu plays best as part of a front two. If you play a front two, you can add Grant, TC, and maybe Alli to that list of "players ahead of him." The harm is not cashing in on a player in the final year of his contract where there is seemingly no desire (thus far at least) to sign a new deal.

I personally believe he's a L1 player and that he'll end up in L1 this year, it's just a matter of time before someone meets our valuation. We just have a lot of players ahead of him right now, and I'm not convinced he's good enough technically for the Championship--especially as a lone #9.
  • What’s chalobah been doing this summer?

Why haven’t we brought him in earlier?

    Seems a bit odd.
Scientists have been re-creating him from accumulated body parts. They have the technology nowadays.

Well let’s hope not. We need to keep him.
  • A shame Apter is injured, as these last 2 games would have been a great opportunity for him to show if he's got what it takes to play in that vacant right wing slot.

Think injury may be worse than first thought

NJ said bone bruise. I can't remember what the timeline is for that, but I expected him to miss the rest of pre-season.
  • Would definitely take Chalobah based on tonight and the Wednesday game. Seemed a really clear step up in quality, completely assured in front of the back line, tidy in possession, just calmly playing it forward through the lines and also seemed to be all over the pitch.

Obviously the big question mark is ability to stay fit but interesting just to see what we look like with some real quality there. I like Cov generally but that really made him look pretty poor by comparison.
  • After watching that, I reckon we are not as far off as I may have believed to stay up.

Billy the kid and Mesík impressed me. Karlan looks useful.

If we sign Kamara as that right sided option (as we looked so left heavy sided) two new CMs, Dykes and extend Lloydy + Ramsay, I reckon that will be a decent window overall.
In the same way losing 2-0 to Wimbledon didn't mean we are relegation battlers, nor does tonight mean we don't have a lot of work to do. The first half was great but once we started shuffling the deck and looking at squad options it dropped off notably - partly due to fitness and other reasons to be fair.
Chalobah shows exactly what we need in that midfield but hes got his own fitness issues to contend with and if we don't sign him specifically we need someone who can replicate what he was doing.

Ive said before that what business we have done has been pretty astute but there's still quite a lot to be done.

First signing of the season for Blackburn.

Blackburn Life must have been in meltdown before today!
  • Fullah doesn’t look like he’s playing a position that suits him to me, where does he play at u21 level? Either that or he’s just not doing well enough yet, an obvious talent but something isn’t right and I can’t quite put my finger on it.

    He's a number 10

Nj saying a CM and RW are what he wants to complete the squad
In that case I wouldn’t want to take Chalobah as the CM - far too likely he’ll miss months of the season and we’re relying on Docherty and Coventry.

Think Kamara is our number one target for that RW position.

  • NJ pretty candidly denying the Dykes offer rumour

He’s a number 10 being played out wide, bit of the Phil Fodens about that.

technically excellent footballer though, think he will go far in the game if he can nail down that 10 spot

He explicitly says he wants 2 more players. Feels at odds to the rumours of Dykes at Sparrows Lane

He’s a number 10. He’s definitely not a winger but just playing there because we don’t have other options at the moment and he can do a job there

Agreed he's looked out of sorts on the wing, we're a bit overloaded at the ten though

    Shame.

Could do a job on the right, where we don't seem to have many options.
