  • Arsenal want to loan out Tommy Setford to the Championship I think. Just in terms of who might be available

TK is shocking, we need better. The rumoured £20k a week is scandalous.
    Is he shocking though?

I can think of a number of times last year he made absolute worldy saves to keep us in games.

he’s limited but shocking is a bit OTT I think
Shocking may have been a tad harsh, he did make some poor mistakes last season.
There were plenty, the one that always sticks in my mind is the Hull game at the valley where he tried to get a foul on one of the Hull players. Just fell to floor expecting the refs whistle

Type of name I'd expect in the mix. Very highly thought of but would be his first loan into senior football.

Was right down the bottom for goals prevented.

opponents netted 6.3 goals more than they should have done

    Yes I’d forgot about that.
It was absolutely rank amateur and ridicilous.
    Luckily we didn’t concede.

I don’t think TK is shocking - I think he’s a good keeper but with 1 significant weakness - he’s not commanding in the air and gives his centre backs very little support in that respect - all the time Lloyd Jones is on the pitch that isn’t such an issue

He wasn't that great at stopping shots last year though either
That’s just not true. He made errors like all keepers but he was a good shot stopper.
It is true. I saw it with my own eyes + in addition:
  • I wouldn't say a keeper upgrade is a top priority. But if we can genuinely upgrade on Kaminski, and keep Mannion as number 2, that'd be great.
  • This window can’t get better can it…
I hope it’s true but there’s no way we’d let him go without a replacement. Would we ?
    I’ll give it a go
  • This content has been removed.
  • It also may explain why he watched 2 goals go in against Reading without making the slightest movement towards the ball and went down in stages letting in the 2nd because he looked too scared to dive.
Possibly wanted to ensure he didn’t get injured.

  • Mannion should’ve been given a chance in the champ, he was perfectly fine in League 1.
That being said if we can improve in any position then we should

Kaminski kept 11 clean sheets in 37 games last season, which is pretty reasonable considering Charlton's final league position. Herminator, don't waste your time, Kaminski was named public enemy number one at the start of last season, for having the tumerity to replace the play off final goalkeeper Mannion. They have a real problem now, as their chosen one, is suffering a crisis of confidence, so prepare yourself for Kaminski being blamed for everything including climate change.
For the record I would start Kaminski over Mannion. Doesn't mean there aren't many many better keepers out there we could have instead.

And yet on the evidence of last season, he’s clearly not up to it

I don’t think this is the case at all. When Kaminski signed, I and pretty much everyone else was absolutely buzzing that we’d signed such a good goalkeeper. Check the first pages of the Kaminski thread. The truth is he hasn’t been good enough and that’s why he is criticised, it’s nothing to do with Mannion, in fact nearly everyone agrees Mannion isn’t good enough either
  • Kaminski stuff makes sense, it’s unlikely that he would’ve started the cup game but you’d expect him to at least be with the squad.
He wasn't involved in either League Cup squad last season, so not reading anything into his absence yesterday on that basis

He played nine games and was incredibly unconvincing. He also had the howler against Bristol City. He’s unfortunately not the answer.
  • Not a big fan of Kaminski or Mannion but think both looked worse than they are because our attacking play last season was so poor that if we let in one goal, we lost.

    13th goals conceded per 90
    18th goals prevented
    10th saves per 90
    14th save %

For what it’s worth I don’t think Kaminski is the worse keeper we’ve ever had not by a long shot and do prefer him to Mannion but for his reputation and the amount we’re paying him 20k a week seems ridiculously
  • Do we know TK is on £20k a week?

  • Anything is possible, but I’d be a tad surprised if TK was to move on this transfer window.

I actually can't believe you wrote that without fact checking your info. Just to update you, Kaminski got injured just before the Chelsea cup game, Mannion deputised and retained his place, played eight more games with two clean sheets, he was selected even when Kaminski recovered from his jnjury, this was the case until the howler at home to Bristol City and another fumble when taking a cross at Sheff Wednesday.
Mannion should’ve been given a chance in the champ, he was perfectly fine in League 1.

He was. He made a couple of big mistakes and was ensuingly dropped.

Mannion and AMB are not Championship starter level keepers.

I agree, so reluctantly liked your comment
  • If the link with Sparta is genuine then we can expect a fee can’t we ? Getting in a replacement could save us £5k per week to boot.
  • Do we know TK is on £20k a week?
No we never actually know how much footballers make. That won't change anyone from hating from for being on 20k per week good luck fella.
  • Do we know TK is on £20k a week?
Which is probably at the lower end of what a 1st choice keeper in the league earns

It’s lucky tha AMB plays in league one then….

Kaminski was not an improvement on Mannion. That doesn't mean Mannion is good enough, we need a much better keeper than either TK or WM if we want to sure up in between the sticks

He’s not on that much. His wage is very over-inflated by our fans

The foreign reporter that broke the story we were signing him said we were offering 12.5k a week. I’d guess that’s much closer to the truth than what is said by our fans
