We need some relatively early signings because we only currently  have half a team capable of taking us up the league. Signings in August/September will mean a pretty incoherent start to the season.
I would like/expect to see players coming in through late June/ early mid July so that the structure of the team gets settled during the friendlies.
That’s always the aim but it’s not always that simple. I think this summer especially, with the World Cup and the fact the league season starts a week later than normal (first Saturday is league cup), means that business will be done later than other summers

I agree, but it's not like that will only apply to us - most of the sides in the division will be in the same situation so while its not ideal it won't necessarily hinder us more than anyone else, relatively speaking.

Guess we’d be too late to the party for Elijah Just now after his NZ performance?

I’ve heard Fry is off to West Ham
5 months playing there in a half-empty athletics stadium with restless locals and he will be begging his agent to get him a move to us in the winter transfer window..
I know your post is joking, but i read they've apparently sold 35k season tickets for next season with their renewal deadline still more than two weeks away.

Throw in match day sales plus whatever they give to away fans (4-5k to anyone not called Millwall?) and i reckon they'll have close to 50k for most games. If they're in automatic contention after Christmas then that will go higher.

Stylistically Bosnia plays similarly to Jones Ball
wonder if we’re interested in any of those players.

I was vaguely aware of Hadžiahmetović when he was at konyaspor and know he was at hull on loan this season but I could not tell you how he did.

Even Dzeko plays similarly to dykes but I’m not advocating for signing a 48 year old

Derry City FC can confirm that Josh Thomas, Dipo Akinyemi and Henry Rylah have left the club ahead of the summer transfer window.

Dipo has just been announced as having joined York City while Josh is also hopeful of announcing a new club next week.

Henry has been recalled from his loan by parent club, Charlton Athletic.

The club would like to wish all three every success in their careers going forward and thank them for their efforts here.

Rylah hasn't been getting game time and Derry have been playing poorly

Sadly for us, most of the Champ teams have already got the basic structure of a first team, we don't. Playing catch up for us means getting ahead of most of the rest.
We had a good start last season, which enabled us to stay out of trouble for most of the season. We don't have the element of surprise anymore and a poor first 5ish games would be hard to recover from.

The promoted teams won't. Blackburn, Portsmouth, West Brom were all part of the relegation fight and will need to improve to avoid that happening again. We definitely need to do major renovation and improvement to the squad but we're not going to be alone in that.

Would be some signing however very unlikely. Would imagine he’s got a lot of offers to choose from.

I can’t see either Brighton or the player deciding we are his best option as a next step, and he will have plenty of good options. No chance this happens imo

All the talk of signing wingers is pointless unless NJ changes his preferred system.

Hope he does as I felt we looked much more dangerous with TC & Fev running at players or cutting inside.

Thing is will he make the step up to Brighton's level without a few more years of development? Probably not he needs game time and he won't get it, unless he moves or has careful thought out loans.  Could we afford him? Probably not, unless he was part of the Mbick deal.

Can't see us being in for ACD unless we're going to play with out and out wingers. He's not someone that could be shoehorned into wingback.

How we played the second half of the promotion season I think is how Jones wants to get us back to playing as it’ll bring the best out of TC and hopefully get his end product where we want it instead of playing LWB or as a striker through the middle.

Absolutely no chance unless it's part of an Mbick deal that we get him on loan for a season

Wouldn’t mind Cissoko who was at Bolton on loan last year either.
