I really think Mwamba might be a better option than CC and Doch.. his confidence on the ball and forward passing excites me.
We've looked much better with Mwamba and Doc but it's only Gills and only a PSF
I think it’s worth pointing out it’s a much weakened Gills team they’re facing. Mwamba looks a player and I hope he can get a decent L1 loan though I think he’ll end up at Colchester.

I'd rather he was in L2 with more chance to get game time and less negative outcomes when he makes mistakes

My 18 year old grandson has just had his hair cut in New Eltham and also there was a as yet unannounced new signing also getting his hair cut! He didn’t ask his name but he told the barber that he had just signed. I know that several of the players use this barber so let’s wait and see who it is. My grandson said it wasn’t Karlan Grant
    A fringe player, maybe.
Maybe a Mohican?  Our first Native American.
A common and very annoying mistake. The Mohawk warriors traditionally plucked out (not shaved or cut) all their hair apart from a small 3" square on the crown which was braided and decorated.
The style of hair falsely attributed to them is actually a Pawnee Nation one.

I don’t think The Last of the Pawnees has quite the same ring to it.
Mohican and Mohawk are completely different tribes
I’m not the one who mentioned Mohawks.

I take your point but it’s a tricky balance as to whether we’d be in a similar situation that Kanu is in, wondering how how far off he is from our first team. Like I say I think he’ll end up at Colchester, especially as Micah did well there.

I’ve said it time and time again. Alan Mwamba is going to be a class player. So comfortable on the ball.

Mwamba may give us an option, but we definitely still need a centre mid

Let’s be honest. We desperately need to bring in a striker and if the rumours about our budget are true and I suspect being third or fourth lowest are correct then someone like Grant without a fee is probably good business. Has the experience we need and his age is good. Injuries to his hamstring are a concern but we are where we are in terms of who we can afford to get in. I’ll be honest I don’t know enough about Redmond to reach a verdict but I have loosely followed Grants career since he left us. Without the club blasting upwards of £8 million on a striker I’d be interested to see who the critics would have us sign ?
Ahearne-Grant may come in on a free but I cannot see him being on less than 15k a week.  He'd have been on big dough at West Brom.
The board have dug deep here.
Well maybe but £15k pw isn’t digging deep in The Championship is it ? If we aspire to remain a Championship club then that’s the going rate and higher that we need to suck up.

I do not disagree with your post, I was saying that by our standards we'd be paying a few quid.
But yes, in the not too distant future we are probably having to pay 20k upwards to get us challenging for play-off spots.
To quote an old Depeche Mode number, it's a 'Question of Time'.

Christ, the ladies team seem to sign someone every half hour!

Don't you believe it, some of them will be playing against Derby.

Just spoken to my grandson again and showed him some photos of Karlan Grant and now saying it could be him but with a much fuller beard than he has in pictures on the internet
Nothing more concrete I am afraid

Micah Richards comes through the door on Monday.

Just had a look in all the barbers in Sidcup, no new signings that I could see
Come on Fenaddick, it’s the one in New Eltham, not Sidcup

While mwamba has potential.  If he is starting for us we are in big trouble.  Hard to say how he will play against championship level players because he hasn’t played against any.  We have seen him against non league/l2 opposition which is a huge step down

Oh i agree. Dont get me wrong. But if jones (who has seen him for a long time at the training ground) considers him ready, maybe he is thinking we only need 1

5 more to come in then, with one imminent by the sounds of it.

Mwamba does look good. I’d put him higher up in the midfield pecking order than Coventry & Fullah.

I’d keep him around till Jan (can always loan him out for the second half of the season) & see how he does.

He definitely has the physique for the level & the only way we’ll see if he can cut it in the Champ is to give him some games.

Guessing the imminent one is Redmond. Even if it’s Grant, the final 4 need to be class. That’s not based on pre season but the second half of last season and what I see as a much stronger Championship in the year ahead.

Not a dig at you but, in my opinion, he needs regular football elsewhere before getting near our first team. He’s had no league experience at all. It’s a far cry from throwing him into the deep end and looking good in a pre season friendly at league two Gillingham.

I agree on Mwamba he is literally our only midfield player that looks forward everyone else looks backwards in terms of of passing. No idea if he can cope in the championship but I would certainly give him a go as unless we manage at least 2 decent midfield signings we are bang in trouble this season imo

I hope it is not Redmond. Mwamba is a very promising player who likes to carry the ball forward. But he is not ready yet.

He did say at first hopefully 2 before the next game and then said later 1 imminent

NJ just confirmed to Cawley that we're interested in Karlan. Not that keen on us signing him but I'll have to get over it if he joins. Can't be worse than when Bonne rejoined tbf

Would hope the imminent isn't Redmond but it would make the most sense.

Happy with Grant, it’s a risk with his injuries but it’s not easy for us to bring in proven championship experience so we will have to take that risk

He’s played a lot of Championship football, and scored a lot at this level, if we can get him at 28 is a top signing

Sounds like it will be Grant. Rumoured medical yesterday and Jones would probably deny it unless it was close to being done
