Sheff Weds' Role in the Run-In

There's no such thing as a true banker-three-points opponent, but Wednesday have been about as close as it comes, this season. I was just looking at their fixtures and noticed they are exclusively playing teams in the current top-six or bottom-nine between now and the end of the season i.e.:

Ipswich
Hull
Stoke
Leicester
Coventry
Charlton
Boro
Oxford
West Brom

They could very well lose all those games, so their impact on the promotion and relegation fights may be more passive, but it could be a significant disadvantage for anyone not playing them, i.e. from the top-six Millwall and Wrexham, and from the bottom-nine QPR, Pompey, and Blackburn.

Of course, now I have highlighted that, they will lose 8 or their last 9 and somehow beat us at Hillsborough, but we could potentially be a net 3 points further ahead of the three teams immediately behind us in the table if we can do as would be expected and beat Wednesday. But with respect to everyone else below us, the fact we play Wednesday is not a net advantage to us if they also beat them.

Maybe this is all irrelevant guff, but I thought it was kind of interesting (but then I am also a boring git, so make your own mind up!).

Sticking my neck out but I reckon we'll be safe by the time we come to play them. Should have 52/54 points by then.

I have no doubt they’ll suddenly turn into Barcelona for the day when they play us.

No but they are giving most teams they play a good battle, they just seem to find a way to end up losing. They got a draw against Watford though and nearly won.

If we beat Oxford, could be enough...its a great feeling that we could be nearly safe and we can start using more of our great young prospects within the squad
