I suspect this will be a cagey game, as both teams are quite similar, playing to their strengths to get results.
Oxford are a team who don't have much possession, but are good with set pieces... and so are we! They're 24th for possession, we're 23rd. They're 24th for accurate passes, we're 23rd.
With their set piece threat, it was crucial that Lloyd is available for this game, so resting him on Wednesday was a masterstroke in the end.1 -
This 100%. Boys on NTT20 were saying they think 52 points minimum to survive this year. We’re looking good for it, but not there yet!jimmymelrose said:I think there’s a little too much complacency on CL after Wednesday. It’s understandable because it was an amazing result but the relegation fight is not over.
It’s easy to look at the table and calculate that the teams below us finish with their current 1, or fractionally just above 1, point per match and so finish on 46-48 points but the last 6-8 games just don’t work like that. Mid table teams take their foot off the pedal, often unintentionally, and even those in the play-offs could do so this season as the gap is so large down to 7th place.
Teams below us play each other and while it’s true to say they both can’t win, neither can they both lose. Four teams that play each other over two rounds of fixtures can get 3 points each, giving them 1.5 points each per game.
Also Oxford and Leicester are in good form. I think at least these two will pull off some surprising results and get higher points tallies than expected.
I think it will be two of Blackburn, Portsmouth and WBA to go down and 51-52 points should be fine, but we have to get to 54 points to be absolutely sure. That’s 7 more points from 9 games. Today’s game was seen as must not lose before Wednesday and nothing yet has changed that imo. Thankfully I also think the team pay more attention to NJ than CL so we have a good chance of getting the stalemate required.1 -
Expecting changes and for Ramsay, Jones, Dykes, Bell and Campbell to start. 1-0 Charlton.0

Come 2.30, we should be two points short then...🤞WoolwichAddick said:

Point will be just fine, 1-1.2

Another clean sheet please, I want us to top the clean sheet league.1

Another excellent preview FA.
In Midfield, I think with the workload that Doc got through, he may be replaced by Rankin Costello. It also means we try to control possession of the ball a lot better with him in the side., I think that will be more suited for the game today.
Coventry should have the legs to play, he's had a decent rest the last few weeks, and I think has shaken off a niggle he'd been carrying.
I agree Kelman and Dykes to start up top, TC may have got the nod, after being rested and coming off the bench, but Kelman's goal means he should stay in the first 11.
Mannion must not be dropped. That would be madness to do so. He hasn't put a foot wrong, and Oxford, when given the chance, will pump balls into the box as much as possible. His domination of the 18-yard box will be a real asset.
OUFC are making a real fist of survival. This won't be easy. Blood and guts type of game, from similarly matched squads.
Take our chances and this should be a solid win, backed by another ferocious defensive display.
OUFC 1- 3 CAFC
Kelman, Jones and Carey on the score sheet.

After the midweek defensive heroics, NJ will unshackle the attacking prowess in the squad, implement a completely left field formation, surprising everyone, and will go all out to entertain and score goals.
So, could be 3-0 either way then!0 -
Five changes same team that beat Brum;
Charlton: Mannion; Ramsay, Jones, Bell; Clarke, Coventry, Carey, Docherty (c), Chambers; Dykes, Campbell
Subs: Kaminski, Gillesphey, Coady, Gough, Rankin-Costello, Fullah, Fevrier, Leaburn, Kelman

Kelman must be gutted.1

Oxford have the bit between their teeth. Three wins on the bounce and will fancy their chances at home. Not a disaster for us to lose and I think this will be a narrow defeat 2 - 1 or 1 - 00
