CHANGE OF DATE: PEARCE & JAMES @ BROMLEY ADDICKS NOW 2 APRIL
Dear all,
Due to a double booking at the venue we've had to change the date but huge thanks to our guests for still being available.
We're delighted to say that the guests for next meeting will be former captain and current U18s coach Jason Pearce and former youth player and current U18s development phase coach Kevin James.
The meeting will be held at our usual venue, the Royal British Legion Club, in Queensway, Petts Wood and starts at 7.30pm. Entry is open to all Charlton fans and is free although donations towards the cost of the hall hire are welcome so please bring a few notes and coins as we can't take cards.
Jason Pearce played for Charlton for six seasons and captained the side at Wembley in 2019. He was also interim first team coach after Dean Holden left. Kevin James came through the Charlton academy but couldn't quite make the breakthrough to the first team and left in 2000 before going on to play for Gillingham, Nottingham Forest and numerous other league and non-league clubs before settling at Dulwich Hamlet where he played 175 league games and became part of their coaching set up. He also assistant manager of the England six a side team that won the Home International tournament in 2019
We look forward to seeing you all on 2 April

Very enjoyable and informative evening. Both Pearce and James are exceptionally talented coaches who both spoke candidlely. Charlton are fortunate to have in them in the building.2

You live nearby, you could have come but you can't resist pissing on others efforts when all you offer is moaning and snide remarks.golfaddick said:Sounds riveting. Must have been a blast.5 -

Only about 30 people there but not an ideal night. JP and KJ both very good, articulate and funny. Feared KJ might get sidelined a bit but he was very involved and gave lots of insight into how the academy works. Club should do a piece on his families football and music connections.
JP spoke about REDS, the values they expect from players and said Gough epitomises this.
Mentioned a few other players including one U15 they have high hopes of.
Both are very strict with the boys eg around things like mobile phones, respect for other staff etc.
JP clearly has a career path which includes being a first team manager sometime but happy he has had time in U18s football to learn, rather than six months and then sacked.
When retired was given 3 options, another year as a player, a player-coach role with U21s or academy coach. Went away to think about it but when he came back Martin Sandgaard had taken the first two off the table. Steve Avory ensured his role was U18s as he didn't want to go younger.
Both felt 1st teamers not playing should get games with the U21s for match sharpness and to aid U21s development.
Sure others can add more8 -
