Championship Agent Fees

IMG_2215.jpeg

Agent fees for this season in the championship. We paid out £904,698. The 4th lowest which I’d say is pretty good going given the number of signings we made in both windows

    4th from bottom is unacceptable.

    Sack the board!

Arguably the one financial statistic I like seeing us being the bottom off. Agent isn’t going to help us on the pitch so good to see us paying a low amount in comparison to other sides

Looking at the League One agent fees we've also spent less than Cardiff, Luton and Huddersfield

Luton spending £3m+ is absolutely ridiculous.

They, and others, will be paying agents to move players on not just bring them in.

When you consider the business Wrexham have done in terms of signings, they have done well to only spend 1/4 of Ipswich agent fees.

So we do not go after the best players, as they will bring their agents the larger fees.  that explains  where we are in the division .

Not necessarily, as we're not 20th in the League, of course the difference between that and where we are is minimal - But then look at Millwall, they're punching well above their weight with Agent fees, when they're 10th (?) on the list.
Spend smarter, not more... Is the ideal route in Football... Neither of which are guarantees

I think agent fees can be paid in stages over the life of the contract, rather than all up front........ I don't know whether this applies to just the buy side or to the sell side as well..?
And if someone is moved on before the end of their contract I imagine any remaining agent fee liability has to be honoured and the liable amount is in the mind of the selling club during the negotiations...?
Anyway, it took me a while to get there, but the cost of agents to a club may not always show right when the transfer is made, they might be staged and need to be posted on the books for some years in the future.
Plus I think agents can get a cut of re-newed contracts and loan fees....?
