4-4 again. I've seen us play out 2 4-4's against Ipswich in the past, today will be number 3.

We sit back and hit them on the break twice to go 2 up, they get 1 back before a long throw puts us 3-1 in front. Ipswich then score 3 in 5 minutes to lead 4-3 and half the home crowd goes home, before we equalise in the 97th minute for the draw.

Then I can drive back home to Suffolk waving at the 3,000 Ipswich fans on the A12 content with the 4 points we've taken off of them, and having watched us snatch another late draw.

I hear you guys saying we are going to park a couple of buses but what is Plan B if Ipswich score in the 1st 10 minutes 🤔

I think it's important that we get a win and if not tonight then against Hull at the Valley as the (understandable) infectious negativity is not what we want in our leisure time.

    Communist football at its finest.

I actually think that given how good Ipswich are on the ball and the fact they need to get a win given how hard Millwall are pushing them, they are going to come at us and it will suit us.

This a prime Jones scenario.  He knows they have better players.  He knows they need a win, he knows he’s got the slowest midfield ever to operate at this level, he’ll be parking the bus and showcasing the very best of Soviet resilience we’ve ever seen.

The iron curtain will be up, us, the people of Nathan’s communist republic will be fed his the lastest serving of perestroika and hope that our dour brand of football philosophy scores an historic victory over the flamboyant western liberal outfit that is Ipswich

If we get the point that keeps us up, we will celebrate with Potatoes and Gruel whilst Nathan then has a decision to make about direction to take our football in next season.  Do we stick to our communist principles and sign more centre backs and painfully slow midfielders that do good work ‘off the ball’, or do we invite the free market capitalism into the team and sign players that can actually do stuff with the ball at this level.

I agree. Hope it lasts the first 15mins
  • Would be expecting a lot of Godden, who has been injured for most of the season, to start 3 games in a week.

Do you play him tonight or put him on the bench tonight hoping to keep him fit for Saturday's game which on paper looks a bit easier?

As has been said,  the required point,  4-4.

This is one of those strange games where some of us will be happier with a draw than a win. I think most of us woud prefer a win though.

I think it’s pretty likely that TC will start instead of one of the front 2 (probably Godden given he might not be up to starting 2 games in a week).

When we play the top teams TC nearly always plays as the we can defend in a 5-4-1 shape and be more defensive. I’d love to see TC and Godden up front but I think it will be TC and Dykes
This is a classic example of NJ sticking square pegs in round holes regardless of how many times they don't work.
Defensively TC ain't at the races. This whole season has proved he's also not a striker/2nd striker whatever the hell that hybrid/cobblers role he's supposed to have had.  TC's a winger, good on the right, functional on the left.   NJ's relentless wasting of TC on the left side of whatever cock-eyed formation has been awful to watch and ruinous for TC's confidence, resulting in the ambling cowed, shadow we've seen these last couple of months.

IF NJ's after a 5-4-1 defensive lineup tonight, then the man for the left sided midfielder is Jayden Fevrier.  He's totally left-sided so won't be hamstrung.

4 in the middle is probably pragmatic.  Ipswich need the win and we've been hopelessly porous through the middle throughout.  We'll need grit and diligent application in the middle, so tackle dodger Carey shouldn't start either - NJ's worst blind spot all season.

While I'm at it, we need to leave at least one player up field for all setplays.  So that we have an outball for getting the ball as far from our goal as quickly as possible and the defensive awareness and capability of several squad members is crap, every player up the pitch draws at least one attacker out of the box.  NJ has been cramming the box to no great effect and he doesn't even post the clunkers on either post to narrow the target.

I think TC is essential tonight. We will be looking to hit them on the break so need his pace for that but also his pace is what will stop their defence from being able to play such a high line - they will be scared of his pace and hold a little deeper. Without him we lack pace and they can play mich higher.

Also with Ramsay and Chambers mostly likely as the wing backs - who both want to come inside rather than out wide we will lack width so TC breaking wide is the only way we get any width at all.

Without as much width we will resort to the long ball even more than usual. Its not gonna be pretty. Proper brexit football. Lets hope we can get the job done.

Backs to the wall a la boro.  Matty comes on after 70 and puts the winner away.  Millwall docked three points so they get no benefit.  Everyone goes home happy.

    Anyone that matters anyway.

We can relax a little tonight .. Ipswich have to win this game not sure a drawer would be ok for them , we already got 3 points of them this season probably more then 99% of supporters would have predicted so it’s a free hit .. especially as we are 99.9999% safe … couple of younger players on the bench

    Kaminski
    Sichenje - Jones - Gillesphey
    Ramsay - Coady - Docherty - Bell
    Knibbs
    Kelman - Godden

Substitutes: Mannion - Chambers  - Gough- Costello - Fevrier - Leaburn - Carey- Dixon  - Dykes

Going for 2-2 ………. Unless Ipswich score in the first 20 mins then 1-3

Don’t concede first otherwise it will get edgy on the pitch and in the stands

Never leave early, but already checking early trains for tonight. Fair to say I am not very optimistic.

    Obviously hope I am wrong.

Just got back from The Valley, took this pic, preparations  are well underway:

  • 7-6 to Charlton after being 5-1 down. This will be the game that younger Charlton fans will remember in 2076 and claim they were there.

With Ipswich not having been "doubled" this season. I only seeing it going one way.

I'm not telling you which way though.
  • No idea how we won the away game - Ipswich had 31 shots and we won 3-0.

Can see a comfortable away win. 5-1 to the Tractor boys

Because a lot of their shots were hopeful efforts from outside the box. Not actually great chances:

Lots of tongue in cheek positive vibes today!

I think we will lose but we are well overdue a home goal in the first ten minutes.

    Is Coventry injured?

    Ticket sales looking pretty poor.

Definitely not been many ‘fasting selling Wednesday game in April whilst Alex Warren has been Number 1 in the charts’ emails

Can see us nicking the point we need. Can also see us winning as they go all out for a winner and we catch them on the break. Equally I can see us getting royally stuffed. In short, it’s all to play for.

If Nathan Jones has done his homework on Ipswich as he did when we thrashed Ipswich 3-0 away at Portman Road we can win the game.

We need to get behind the lads tonight and avoid any speculation about us staying in the championship.

If we do and Dykes does something special ( now overdue) and Gillesphey Leaburn and Carey are in the starting line up as they were when we thrashed them away ,  and everybody perform as a team rather than individual heroics and for gods sake keep the ball and don’t keep losing it when you get it and don’t keep missing sitters, I believe we can easily do the double over them at Floyd Road tonight.

    Nathan Jones’ Red Army.

    Come On You Reds.

We are far better than the Tractor Boys. Just be very mindful of that Jack Clarke.

If Ramsey is fit I would leave him in his usual position and play Sichenje wide and keep the defence that know each other so well together.

I said a few weeks ago when we kept failing to put this season to bed that we were gonna end up having to get something against Ipswich and help Millwall in the process - and so it has come to be. I go to tonight's game in a strange mindset but ultimately i want us to stay up more than i want them not to go up so COYR!!! If we lose i think the reverse situation may be on the table for Millwall against Oxford if they're lucky.

My last train to Melton Constable: 1959 from Norwich City station.

I think I've missed it so I'll drive instead.

After Wrexhams win, it will be interesting to see if we risk Ramsay tonight. The right side of defense without him and no Clarke is a bit of a worry as Collins and Burke both just back from injury so might not be fully fit themselves. Maybe we will see Gough start tonight. Fancy us to get something against Hull but tonight is unlikely
