    Fevrier @ Left Wing-Back?
    I mean the calls for Gough to replace Gillesphey were outlandish and were never going to happen, so its no surprise to see Macca keep his place with no Bell, as there is no one else who can naturally play @ Left Centre-Back
    Surprised to see Knibbs start, hopefully it works with him and Carey out there for once

    I’m amused that Jones has turned on Chambers at pretty much exactly the time I did. It’s a weird lineup, seems an odd time to switch to two 10s which has never worked in the history of Charlton Athletic but it’s, on the face of it, two intense pressers who can nick a goal better then anyone else. Fev starting on the left means at least some attacking width and then Campbell can come on later. Only need a point, let’s pray between Carey, Knibbs and Kelman we can find two goals because a left side of Fev and Gillesphey is giving me fear shits
    It’s what he should have changed to at HT on Wednesday instead of bringing Dykes on.

    Nerves are starting to kick in now
    Maybe next year we could have a calmer end to the season if thats alright?
    I'd settle for being in Preston's shoes right about now, some boring uneventful last couple of games
    These last two seasons have had far too much drama for my liking
    Saying we’d settle for staying up is why we feel the way we do ! 🤔😉😆

    Regardless of what formation we play today we need:

    ... some attacking intent, a bit of pace;

    ... our forward players to press the oppo up the pitch, we can't sit back and invite Hull onto us;

    ... discipline in our midfield to hold their positions instead of being drawn to the ball if Hull advance down the flanks, leaving acres of space in the middle for their players to attack (like with the Dipswich equaliser);

    ... to avoid getting everyone injured!;

    ... the manager to make sensible subs and not bollocks it up like in midweek.

    We can win this!

    No height up top and we're unable to play through the lines. Think we're relying on set pieces.

    That front 3 is set up to press very aggressively I’d say.

    I think we’ll be pressing heavily with those 3 + Doc, Clarke and Fevrier and then pretty much everyone else behind the ball.

    If it works it could do well.

    I was worried about who would start, but now I've seen Berry is on the bench I'm much happier.

    That line up looks a bit thrown together to me but let’s see.

    451/433 on attack I’d say.

    Coady drops in between Jones and Sichenje and the rest get forward.

    Interesting set up but outside of Collins would lack pace.

    Good morning everyone!
    It's 340am here. Woke up about 10 minutes ago, saw the time, and immediately had to check the team news. Nerves kicked in pretty much right away so I'm awake now, have a cat lying on my feet, and I'm ready for what comes next.

    Good luck to all those going today, and thanks to all those doing the Upbeats walk.

    We just need a draw. We just need a performance. We just need a bit of luck.

    I’m on a French long -distance train. The wifi seems to work well, but I don’t think I can face this. Maybe I’ll opt for the audio. i really didnt think we would be in this position, but here we are. No Godden for all the optimistic noises. Bloody stupid, making him stay on.

    Fevrier covering Gillesphey has us concede at least 1 goal maybe two so we are going to need to score a couple today.

    In the car park and we just saw Godden arrive with Josh Edwards. He was walking quite gingerly. Edwards looks fitter though.

    Seems like Jones has decided to try and go a bit more "defend by attacking" - lots of pressing and pressure and flooding the middle of the pitch. If it works we should pick something up against Hull who are out or sorts but if they manage to pick us open we're in trouble.

    Gillesphey? Really? Glad we haven't reverted back to Dykes upfront.
    I’m not sure why so many people are shocked he’s starting. There is no other left footed CB. He will get plenty of help from Fevrier,Doc and Carey or Knibbs will also pull out onto the left when needed.

    To be fair to Macca he usually ups his game when he has had a bit of stick. Doesn't seem to work with Carey though.

    I know it was a box shape but a midfield of Coventry, Doc, Anderson and ACampbell isn’t what I’d call a two 10 formation. That was aggressive little ankle bastards pressing high. I’m sure Jones wants that from these as well but this is a one striker two 10s formation with onus on them to score and affect things in the opposition half rather than the two striker box of non-technical violence merchants of that game

    Good morning Charlton fans, good morning everyone (in my best Richie Benaud voice)

    It's my last match thread appearance of the 24/25 season, I'll be at the caravan next weekend ... and hopefully won't have to be glued to the scores on Saturday lunchtime!

    Knibbs can play that role, he can play as a 9 as well as a 10.

    All that's needed is a Jack, Queen and King and we'll have a half decent hand.
