Well, that was a poor afternoon of football. 2 play off finals that were riddled with errors, misplaced passes and dull football.

If anything Hull getting it done proves we shouldn’t just be satisfied to attempt to stay up, it shows it can still be done.
Not sure we’re quite the same level as able to pay a striker 25k a week and spending 4.5M on a winger
They only spent £3.6m all season

It gives a team like ours hope that reaching and winning the play-offs is an achievable target. Recruitment will be crucial this summer

Whilst watching the players celebrating I saw Dillon Phillips involved, I hope his contract ensured a nice bonus for promotion.

Just picking the missus up from Abbey Wood, who knew there were so many Boro and Hull fans living round here 🤷‍♂️

Salaries are more predictive of success.

Well you didn't need the help of Harry Palmer, to work out that Boro couldn't hit a Cow's arse with a Banjo.

I haven't grasped the new promotions system malarkey for the Championship next season.
I think if you finish in the top 24 in the league you make the play offs.

Delighted for them. Will be very interesting to see how they do next year - if they can even get close to avoiding the drop they’d have done well.
    Absolutely no chance.
Play fun attacking, entertaining football regardless of results. Take the money and run.

Pleased that Hull went up as it would've been a farce to see Middlesbrough get promoted after losing their semi-final. But my god that Hull team is going to need a lot of new signings this summer if they're going to do anything other than finish well adrift in 20th.

Didn’t really care who wins but a bit gutted that twat has scored the winner
Good job you weren't listening on Talkshite as I was. On about 70 minutes they started a running thing about what a mistake Steve Clarke had made not choosing him ahead of "the strikers he selected", for the Scotland squad.  One of this team was Pardew. Maybe its because I never normally listen to Talkshite but I've never heard a pile-on like that, out of the context of the game being covered. Pardew even said "it must have been personal" about Clarke not selecting him. After he scored they more or less went into "Are you watching, Stevie Clarke?" mode. Fucking weird and very unprofessional. Both Clarke and Lyndon Dykes should lamp Pardew the next time they come across him.

However, seeing them as much as we have and the two games against us where we got 4 deserved pts, do you consider them that much better and the gap that wide?, I don’t,considering our obvious weaknesses, I was just suggesting we might not be as far away as we thought and there is reason to be optimistic after seeing Hull do so well to go up.

Do you remember that programme when we were kids:

Hull followed the Nathan Jones playoff template - zero conceded and a 1-0 win in the final.

They’ve shown what can be achieved at this level with dominating possession or playing exciting attacking football.
Except they do counter with pace and urgency. We don’t. That has to be the aim. Too often this
season it was slow with zero creativity on the counter.
Well yeah everyone knows we need to improve going forward, but there had been this idea that you have to play a certain way to do well in this league. We need better players and that would naturally lead to better football and scoring more goals. Keeping clean sheets can still be a priority.

I think finding the right partner for Kelman could be key. Yes we need a lock picker in midfield but having a big nuisance CF who chips in with his fair share is as important as far as I’m concerned. I don’t think Miles is yet that player. Dykes if he comes back would in my opinion be back up for that player.

Really surprised Hull went up….thought they looked the worst of the top 6 when we played them….took 4 points from them….gives me hope but then it’s the hope that kills ya….

This talk that 'if Hull can do it even we can' (with whatever tweaks) is a bit ahead of ourselves i think. NJ needs at least another season to prove he hasn't already reached his ceiling with us i think.

Then the football has to be worthy, significantly better than Hull's in terms of consistency.

(And on top of that i want to go up with Lennie Lawrence in charge who showed that quality leadership WITH a low budget is a recipe for success. And not via the play-offs, or in second place with a limp finish like Curbs was famous for).

They were guaranteed relegation this season as well.
  • As expected in the League One final, regarding recent and current Charlton names. Burstow starts up top for Bolton, no Apter in squad. Edun starts for Stockport, Olaofe on the bench.

It’s looks like a pretty sparse crowd for the Bolton v Stockport game. 45,000 max? Bolton sold 28,000 and Stockport 13,000 the last time I looked
  • It's so nice to be watching these end of season games following a satisfactory CAFC season (two seasons!).

Didn't get the opportunity last season as we were still involved until the end. Seasons before that were generally a grind.

Feels like the first time in years I'm genuinely enjoying these fixtures.

Hull City supporters of a certain generation remember nearly dropping out of the football league altogether in the late 90s on two occasions. They’ll take a year in the Premier League as part of that rollercoaster even if it’s a struggle.

Looking at the crowds both today and yesterday - I have to say that much maligned phrase.

We are a big club. With Massive potential.

Genuinely - we were a monster of a club at league one level. The support of the four clubs up to now shows this. We have to continue to build this summer
